    On hold for almost an hour. I have bragged on this place for years but service the past 6 months have been better. I will be holdinguntil one they close for the weekemd or two someone calls me other phone. We will see.

    Worst customer service experience. In a branch or trying to contact by phone, they are terrible.. They have good rates on new car loans but terrible service. No apologizes needed, just hire people that care, or at least act like they care.

    Absolutely love every teller and loan officer I've dealt with in my 10+ years of banking with New Horizon's. My issue is the customer support when you call the main branch line. You can stay on hold for hours! I have a simple question, yet I can't get anyone to answer the line. I cheated and went to collections and of course someone answered right away but refused to help and now I'm on hold again.... Customer service is everything when you're such a small bank. What if I needed to report fraud and couldn't get someone on the phone for hours??? This is unacceptable. Update: Over an hour and a half of waiting and no answer. Finally set up a call back from the answering service. Let's see how long it takes for a call back...

    I used to love this credit union. But after a while, they would not update my debit card to my account. I have been with them over 10 yrs. They would not even issue me a regular ATM card. No access to my funds unless I visit a branch. Talk about inconvenience! In lieu of their failure to work with me, I most likely will close my account and move to another credit union. Even my bank is much better. I've never had any issues with my bank.

New Horizons Credit Union's history offers a unique story of progress and growth. We were chartered on January 31, 1950 as H & W Company Credit Union (Hollingsworth & Whitney Co.) which was a paper mill company that moved a division from Waterville, Maine to Mobile, AL. Then, later the company merged with Scott Paper Company at which time we became known as Scott Southern Division Employees Credit Union and soon after - simply Scott Credit Union, and our core field of membership was the Scott Paper Company employees and their families for over forty years, but change was coming.

We strive to provide excellent member service, and it seems we have failed to do so on your part. Our Member Services Center receives many calls throughout the day, and this increases throughout the holiday season, thus keeping our representatives from answering all the calls we receive in one day. We ask our members to leave their name and a good call back number so our representatives can return their call as soon as they are able to - this may mean the following business day. We also ask our members to first look at our website's FAQ page (https://www.newhcu.org/FAQ) to see if their question is answered there first before they call our Member Services Center. Members may also contact us via Facebook where they can also receive assistance, or be transferred to another department to receive assistance. This helps us decrease call volumes to our Member Services Center which helps them better assist our members. We are also working on hiring more Member Service Representatives so they may assist our members in the call center and help our representatives with the call volumes. We have been hiring more staff to help ease the workload on our current call center representatives, but as they need training, it takes a while before they can actually begin working in the call center and help our current staff. Dear Mr. Hudnell: Thank you for your comments, without them we would not know where there is an issue. Please know that due to the nature of Regulation D and the number of transactions that can be made on certain deposit accounts, we no longer issue ATM cards per say - we are assuming that is what you are referring to. Instead, we offer only Debit Cards (which work at ATMs), but a person must have a checking account to fully utilize - which may or may not be the reason for your card issue without knowing more. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Every financial institution is different, and we are pleased you were able to find one that works best for your needs. Please know that NHCU now offers several no-cost checking accounts including our Ultimate Checking Account for members who wish to earn a higher dividend rate or earn cash back on their debit card purchases. This may not have been available during your time with us, but something to know about in the future.
