Historic Alaska Railroad Depot

The Nenana Depot was built in 1922 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. This is a beautiful historical building and a must see. Check it out!

Fun little museum that tells about the good old days when Alaska was still wild and free. Many great people put their heart and soul into making this state what it is today, and some of those stories can be seen in the history displayed here. I enjoyed the book from the 2019 Nenana Ice Classic. It lasted all the guesses and was 3 inches thick! There was also a history of all the times the ice went out and how much money the winner got. Last year it was over $300,000! Definitely check this place out when in the area.

The history of Alaska is full of characters, and many of them are memorialized here. They made Alaska what it is with their big dreams and big energy. There are a lot of fun facts and tidbits throughout the museum. I enjoyed reading through the book about the 2019 Nenana Ice Classic which lists ever guess for the year and the prize amounts for every year since it started. There is also a gift shop here with Alaskan souvenirs.
