Really Robert? Two years later, you found a place to trash us lol. You informed us 3 days before arrival (when you couldn’t find a place to do the 72-hour testing and didn’t want to pay for arrival testing at the Anchorage airport), then dishonest about the reasons to your booking platform and to us. The travel restrictions for your 2 night booking on 8/21/2020 were the EXACT same as when you booked on June 10th 2020. The State of Alaska’s Health Mandate 10 requiring the 72-hour prior testing was announced on June 3rd, effective June 6th. But, you already know this. You informed us on August 17th, at 10:49, that “The most recent travel restrictions imposed by the Governor of Alaska which were effective on August 11th, requiring all non-residents entering the state to show proof of COVID tests with specimen collection dates within 72 hours of arrival and the required quarantine if the results had not yet been received.  This is the cause for cancellation of our plans to visit. Until that date, when that specific restriction was put into place, we fully intended to keep our vacation plans and visit Alaska”. You also stated, “ Again, had we known the governor was going to impose the latest, strict testing requirement and that rapid testing would not be available to us, we would have cancelled ahead of the cancellation date in your policy.”You cancelled when you couldn’t find a testing location. When you contacted us, you were informed that the 72-hour prior testing travel restrictions HAD NOT CHANGED from the time you booked, and your ‘reason’ you provided for cancellation wasn’t accurate. You said you were coming to Alaska at a later date, and we offered to rearrange your booking at your convenience, at no charge. When you refused the offer, we decided to refund you one of your two nights, a 50% refund, which we were under no obligation to honor (as your booking platform also informed you). You graciously accepted. Bottom line- We effectively lost our opportunity to rebook your dates, you were dishonest in your conversations with us and the booking platform as to the reasons why, and you’re being dishonest in this 2 year old review. We had guests from all over negotiate the travel restrictions in 2020 and all had a wonderful stay. We’ve had 100’s of 5+ reviews which repeatedly praise our kindness, communication, fairness, and flexibility. Not to mention one of the most beautiful and highly rated properties in Talkeetna. You are literally the one exception.
