BBBM was a great find! Needing a workout to build bone strength and balance became a necessity for my optimal health. Maggie is experienced in providing safe and beneficial routines. I saw improvement quickly! Her studio is well equipped and pleasant. She always provides something new to keep things challenging and fun! And its not fluff, its a WORKout!!! She has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to guiding clients looking for ways to build a healthy body. So glad I found her!

Remember how much you loved recess? That's how much I enjoy working out at Building Better Bones and Muscles with Maggie. Maggie is a phenomenal trainer who makes working out fun. She's extremely knowledgeable and motivating. She offers an extensive variety of strengthening and balance exercises every time I go (3 times a week) so it's always engaging and effective. I'm much stronger and my balance has improved so that I have resumed the activities I love---like hiking and biking. I have more confidence and don't worry that I'll fall or break bones anymore. You won't find a better trainer or a kinder person than Maggie.

I started working with Maggie after receiving a diagnosis of osteoporosis. She is very knowledgeable, energetic, and fun. After 13 months of working with her twice a week (in addition, to some dietary changes, supplements, and other weight bearing exercises) my bone density has stabilized and in some areas improved. I would highly recommend working with her.

I am 60 years old and was diagnosed with osteoporosis a number of years ago. I sit at a desk a better part of my workday and to address the bone loss was walking at an indoor track during my lunch hours. This was clearly not enough, as my most recent DEXA scan revealed that I have made little progress toward reversing these numbers. I started working out on my own at a local gym and ended up hurting myself on one machine, requiring physical therapy to recover. After receiving a high calcium blood level result, my primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Alexander Zwart. He is an Endocrinologist, who is working with me on thyroid issues that can leech calcium from the bones leading to osteoporosis. He recommended I connect with Maggie Rappaport to start a training program to build my bone density. He also suggested I purchase the book "The Best Exercise Program for Osteoporosis Prevention". This book is based on a study conducted from 1995 to 2001 by experts at the University of Arizona and provides a lot of information, research, and exercises to build bone density. I found it difficult to plow through this book, and the pictures and descriptions of the exercises were difficult to follow and know you were doing it correctly. Maggie is very familiar with this study and incorporates the principals into an individualize program best suited for you. I would save the expense of the book and suggest investing in some individual time with Maggie to develop a program specific to you. With this individualize approach, you are assured of proper form, technique, and safety. I paid for 10 sessions and am a little over halfway through those 10 sessions. She has a well-equipped space with exercise equipment to conduct the training. She is easy to connect with and willing to answer all sorts of questions about the exercises and training. She will work on bone strengthening exercises as well as addressing balance issues, which are a big part of preventing falls. Maggie even met me at one of our local Parks and Recs centers near my work. I can use the facility during my lunch hour every Tuesday and Thursday, taking advantage of a senior program where I pay $25 for the year and have full access to the workout equipment on those two days. Maggie showed me how to use the various equipment and figure out a training program I can sustain on my own. She Initially suggested two very simple things I could immediately start doing to address the osteoporosis- adding a weighted pack to my walking along with a Lifepro Waver Mini Vibration Plate that I use daily for 15 minutes to help build bone. She also helped me figure out some inexpensive equipment I could get for home along with an exercise home routine to add a day of strength training I could do at home. She is excellent in helping you develop an exercise regimen you can sustain on your own or if you need that one on one ongoing training, you can schedule a regular time to workout with her. It is difficult to find a trainer with the knowledge and experience Maggie has when it comes to safely working on building back and sustaining bone density as you age. I highly recommend the investment in connecting with Maggie.

I have too many good things to say about my experience to fit into one review! She responded quickly and was very thorough in the consultation appointment. The biggest difference between her and the other 3 trainers I have worked with is that the workout she gave me in the consultation was productive but not so exhausting that I couldn't complete the rest of my day. In the sessions I have had thus far with Maggie, I have already noticed results and I continue to be able to go home and be active with my toddler. Another major difference is that she motivates me to work hard without pushing me to the point of injury. Pregnancy and labor left me with a lot of pelvic issues and Maggie has been able to find ways to strengthen my core without causing further injury because she listens to me when I tell her where I'm having pain. I look forward to our sessions with excitement instead of fear which causes me to get an even better workout.  She emphasizes correct form and teaches why the correct form is important. I'm so happy with the increased energy and motivation I have gained from working with her. I'm back to exercising daily instead of only a few times a week. Her studio is inviting, clean, and has lots of equipment.

About
Building Better Bones and Muscles

Needless to say, personal training was one of many industries affected by the coronavirus. As stay-at-home orders were lifted, we established a "new normal." Inside the studio, things aren't looking that different: Our studio was and is arranged for one-on-one personal training. Gloves and hand sanitizers are available, and disinfecting wipes are right where they've been since opening more than five years ago. Clients are encouraged to wash up before and after working out, breaks that have always been available for "freshening up" have added the dimension of hand-washing and sanitizing, and we are more mindful to the practices of social distancing and wearing of masks.
