I've spoken with the Pre/CEO about the recent failed HS Millage Proposal and the COC's active support and role in that measure. I was questioned about whether or not I had kids/grandkids in the MHSD as if it was a disqualifier on the issue if I didn't. I reminded her that I pay the vast majority of my ever-increasing property taxes to support ASUMH and the School District and do more than my fair of "supporting the kids" regardless. I've listened to the Chamber's failed proposals, as a Non-Profit, to garner a total of $80,000 from the city and county taxpayers (many of which cannot manage any increase in taxes whatsoever) to support a nebulous Community Development narrative that does not track with benefit to the entire Mountain Home Community. The 600 members of the Chamber have their own personal business interests at heart and apparently support passing on some of their costs of doing business to average citizens who would not benefit in any appreciable way. Does management and Members of the COC feel they can rightfully pass on substantial costs to folks without concern? My personal Overall Rating/Value to the General Public is One Star-. MH is a nice retirement community and place to live, work, and prosper. I hope the COC will do a much better job at it and in doing so benefit all of us who live in and love MH/Baxter County=The Mountain Community!
