It is a nature jewel in Douglas County. The staff and volunteers made you feel so welcomed. The history of this ranch is incredibly entertaining. Their community interaction toward the education of our youth is admirable as well.

This is not always open to the public. You either need to reach out to schedule a visit (schools and such) or go on one of their open days like I did. This is a great way to learn about the history of the region and get a peek into what life was like before the modern age. There are several buildings to see. There is also a blacksmith shop that can provide live demonstrations.
