We followed up with the office member who booked your appointment and found that she had informed you of the time change that occurred due to an emergency situation. You agreed and gave no indication otherwise. We would have been happy to schedule you for another time, but we were not made aware of an issue. As far as pricing is concerned, there are chiefly two ways to price a diagnostic fee, which is a reflection of the business model. There are companies that charge around $50 flat for a diagnostic fee. These companies typically pay their employees commission and can charge these low prices because the understanding is that the customer will be placed in a high-pressure sales situation. The temptation even exists that the team member would pressure the customer into buying something they don't need. At ClearWater Plumbing, we have opted for the other business model. Our employees are paid a competitive hourly wage without any commission. This removes the high-pressure sales dynamic altogether. In turn, this means that every trip and every job has to pay for itself because there will be no offsets from selling something the customer doesn't need. We have to account for the employees' wage, drive time to the job, and other operating expenses. This means that every job has a minimum cost. In return, we will not pressure you to buy something you don't need. This saves you time and money.Furthermore, it is difficult to give accurate pricing over the phone as there exists a variety of water heaters that may require more time to diagnose. There are some customers that can identify what type of water heater they have, but most depend on us to identify it for them.Again, thank you for the feedback.
