A great local museum with an extreme amount of local flavor. It gives you a real sense of what it was like to live in Platteville 50 to 100 years ago. The volunteer staff is excellent and always helpful answering questions you may have. Just a wonderful example of a local community supporting a venue like this that really speaks to their history. Will always come back, as we see different things every time.

The Platteville Pioneer Museum is among the best little town and county Museum I have ever visited. I highly suggest everyone stop by and check it out.

This review is specific to the log cabin which is located outside of the Platville Pioneer Museum. This one room cabin shows how families used to live with the bedroom, small kitchen, and eating area all in one room. There's a very small sleeping loft over a portion of the one room. There are windows for children to look in which were very nice because they were low enough for a small child to see through. There's information in one area about how the pioneer families used a variety of things to insulate between the logs and you can also see the thick chinking for insulation.
