The front desk staff here are amazing!! The absolute best I have encountered in DC hands down!

This is the loudest apartment I have ever lived in. Come by at night before signing. It sits at the entrance of 395 and youll hear every horn, siren, and motorcycle throughout the night. I have not been in a louder apartment in DC.

Nice looking apartment building. Prices between the same units vary quite a bit so do your research. Also, the leasing office is terrible at communicating once you become a resident. They take weeks to respond to emails. Additionally, they do a poor job at keeping up the gym equipment, if something is broken it can take weeks or months to get it fixed.

Have any residents also had issues with break ins/robberies? Our isolated, far-from-the-elevator unit was recently broken into and our belongings stolen. They went through our personal items, and even our underwear drawers. It has been three weeks since the incident and this building has yet to provide us with an electronic key audit demonstrating who accessed the unit (as there was suspiciously no forced entry) or security camera footageindicating a lack of proper review, or worse, negligent blind spots in their security cameras that allow unrestricted and undetected access to the building. This building could not even provide us with the email or contact information of a building manager to handle our case. You just have to stop by the office during your work hours and hope they are there. As two young women living here, we simply do not feel safe. This management has taken no steps to correct the violating incident, or ensure the safety of future residents. No explanation for how this occurred, no key audit, no proper security camera system, and even no additional security for our unit such as an additional lock (which they said they would install and didnt). We even now have a mouse infestation in our unit, and the maintenance team initially refused to seal the walls/floors and then recommended against an exterminatorthey just buy the same traps you doessentially leaving us to catch the rodent ourselves. This is not an acceptable or safe standard of living, exacerbated by the exorbitant rent we pay. Prepare to fend for yourself if you live here; this building will provide you no support, comfort, or assistance. If you are looking for luxury and controlled access as advertised, or if you simply care about your health and personal safety, look elsewhere.

Overall a great location and base from which to enjoy DC but recently ruined by the daily presence of a loud trumpet player who for two hours plus repeats the same few bars of approximately four standards over and over and over (Star Spangled Banner, Rocky etc) on and around New York Avenue NW. I have tried to reason with him and the police (and the building) but there appears to be no solution at present. Because of the canyon effect from the tall buildings that overlook NY Ave between 4 and 5th Streets, the sound is magnified and the only way to get rid of it/or get it out of your head, because once it gets in it stays in, is to drown it out with music or the like of your own but god help you if you are working from home (and or enjoy a little silence at the end of the day) as many of us do these days. Essentially, he walks up between the traffic looking for money (rush hour) and many of these commuters who hand him money from their car windows are completely oblivious as to the extent of the disturbance he is creating. Why this is acceptable behavior at any time of the day in an intensely residential (center of DC literally) is beyond comprehension, especially given the expense (we pay a premium) of living here. Meanwhile, I do know that there are people in the building (has been going on for several yrs but has gotten worse and more consistent of late due to the favorable weather conditions) who are not happy about it either some Im not the only crazy person. Without this I would give the bldg at least 4 stars but for the moment I cannot in good conscience not forewarn would-be residents that they might not like it. For those like me, I recommend you opt for an apt on the L St side but keep in mind that this side can get more hot in the summer because it is south-facing and in my opinion the view on the upper floors isnt as good if that matters. Of course there might be a resolution and or he might moderate and i will update this. Other than that living here over the years has been a great experience. No place or person including myself is without fault but for the most part they do a comparatively good job of maintaining the building and providing good service/s, plus great roof deck although more umbrellas needed (just one at the moment plus an empty stand). And Nick who is relatively new to the building has proved to be a very capable manager so far.
