    People from maintenance and concierge are the best. But people from the leasing office and property manager are terrible. Never ever reply to emails, never forthcoming, never accommodating, impossible to schedule an appointment with them. You can live well here only if you dont plan on interacting with them at all.

    My review is for the leasing office only. Ive booked a time for a visit in advance. Upon arrival the leasing officer seemed completely unprepared and didnt know what I was looking for, although I had shared that info in my booking. On all the reminder emails I received doesnt say they require an ID, and when we were about to on the tour she said I needed an American ID or my passport (which I didnt have). She showed me an apartment that was irrelevant to what would be available, as I saw a 1,000 sq ft apartment but the one she would be able to offer me for the required move date was 730 sq ft. I asked to see a similar floorplan or at least a smaller apartment that has the same view to understand the lighting and all, and she said that wasnt possible. She mentioned the floorplan would be available in the website, but I couldnt find it and she didnt offer to send me over email or anything. When asked about the rent, she said rent changes EVERYDAY, and therefore she couldnt provide me that information. I was not shown the gym or other areas of the building. She didnt explain how the utilities would work or gave me an estimated price. Im sorry if Im being picky, but I think this service is below my expectation, and no I dont think I will be moving in here with this level of introduction. I might be new to America, but this just seems insane.

    Location is super convenient. Apartments are average sized with all the usual amenities. The maintenance staff is AMAZING and respond to all requests in a timely manner. The communication from the management is below average. The fire alarms are shared with the other apartments/restaurants on the block, so they go off on a regular basis, gets very very annoying. There are 3 elevators, and almost always, one of them does not work. I moved out a month ago, and they did nothing to make my move easy. Despite reserving the freight elevator weeks in advance, on the day of the move, I was told that the elevator has been broken for weeks. It resulted in a more laborious and expensive move. The lack of rooftop access or grills anywhere on the property is another downer. In short, if you want this location or this price point, go for it. Else look elsewhere.

Recommendation: I discourage people from living at Gables City Vista unless they fix the persistent false fire alarms. There have been at least 9 alarms in 11 months, sometimes in the early morning. Detailed Pros - Metrorail (red/green/yellow) and bus accessibility - 20 minute walk to Downtown DC - Vista Green outdoor space is unique perk if you like walking without leaving your building - Living less than a block from a grocery store (Safeway) and restaurants - In-Unit Washer and Dryer + dishwasher - Up to date oven/stove/fridge/freezer - Maintenance team is quick to fix things within the unit - Online rent system is convenient and easy to set up autopay - Fitness center and community room are nice - Package room: notified when packages arrive - Receptionist can be helpful - Underground parking lot Detailed Cons - Living near busy NY Avenue = you often hear police/emergency sirens - Application fee is unnecessarily expensive - No help finding roommates - Utilities not included - Unfurnished, so I rented furniture - No substantive community social events - Sometimes smells like weed in elevators and in hallways - Bugs can be an issue. In short, if you want this location or this price point, go for it. Else look elsewhere.
