I would exhaust official options first. I took my laptop to Nick to replace my macbook pro's dead screen. The laptop is from 2017 so no longer under applecare warranty. Instead of replacing it with a new screen it was replaced with a used screen that had its own defects (Small black marks in the display) at a cost of $600 with a 30 day warranty. About 40 later the screen died. This time I took the laptop to the apple store to discover that replacing the laptop would cost $698 with a 90 day warranty, AND the replaced it with a new screen.

I cracked my MacBook and Nick was able to help me out by replacing the screen for a new one. He is very responsive and reliable. I definitely recommend to go to him for any problems you might have.

I cannot recommend Nick enough! My laptop screen was incredibly broken - I couldn't get past the log-in screen even when hooked up to an external monitor. Nick went above and beyond, taking off my screen, installing a new one, and from there was able to diagnose the problem. Nick is patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. I will definitely hit him up next time I have computer issues.
