Absolutely love our stylist Ashley, and everyone up here we interact with has been wonderful. Ashley has helped my teen daughter on her journey back to curly hair health after a salon claiming to understand curly hair absolutely ruined her gorgeous locks! (Insert eye roll. I should have seen it coming - if no one at the salon has curly hair, stay the eff away!) Ashley has been so gentle and loving with my daughter, and its clear we are in the hands of a REAL pro!

Honest review from a curly girl thats five years in. Glows: Joy was super sweet and had a vibrant and welcoming attitude. She did a phenomenal job washing and conditioning my hair. Grows: She was scissor happy and took off about 5 inches of my hair. Keep in mind that Ive been wearing my natural curls for five years and go to get diva cuts regularly. I told her that I wanted to retain length and that I only needed a trim. I use Innersense and Uncle Funkys as a regular part of my hair routine. I explained this to her during the consultation. However, when it came to styling, she use a comb and raked mousse over my hair. I figured I was there for the cut and would restyle it when I got home. Once home, I soon realize that the cut was asymmetrical and that she had taken off significantly more than what I asked for.

It's been over a week since the most expensive haircut I've ever received, and I still cringe every time I see my reflection. I have healthy 4c hair that I have worn naturally for over 15 years. I was excited about my first appointment with Parlour Salon. When I arrived, my hair was about 5 inches past my shoulders, with about 3 inches of dead ends. I asked to cut the dead ends and reshape my hair. I said I wanted my hair shoulder length in the curly mullet style (short in the front, longer in the back) and to trim my bangs. I showed the stylist a picture of myself with the exact haircut I described, as this is the haircut I've had for the last year (cut by my old stylist). The stylist seemed confident and did not mention any concerns except that she would cut less than I probably would want. I said that's not a problem. Unfortunately, the stylist did the opposite of what we discussed. She cut my hair into a bob significantly shorter in the back, longer in the front, and 1 - 3 inches above my shoulders. In addition, after washing and styling my hair at home, I realized with my hair in its natural curl, the stylist cut off 7-8 inches of my hair. I feel like I got a "big chop" without asking for it. The stylist never talked to me about changing the cut's shape or how much hair she cut off. She made these major decisions without my knowledge or input. As she was cutting, I admit I was becoming concerned about the shortness in the front. Yet, I didn't want to question the stylist's judgment when I had provided such precise desires for my haircut. Plus, she seemed so confident and I assumed (wrongly) that her extremely high rate correlated to her skills and experience. It was a hard lesson for me to learn, but I wish I had stopped the stylist to remind her what I wanted before she changed my haircut and cut most of my hair off. This is why I decided to leave a review. To encourage others trying this salon be vocal throughout your haircut to ensure you don't walk out in shock with a bob.
