Amazonia is a great place to take a small child. It's also free. You enter the building and are suddenly in an indoor rainforest where the zoo animals (apart from the aquatic animals) are not in separate enclosures. There are all sorts of amazonian animals around on or nearby the path through the building. Giant fish larger than some children, along with piranhas, monkeys, and all sorts of birds are in the same room with you. If you are in the zoo and have not been, go.
