This is a predatory lender. I lost about $1000 and almost lost my $5000 earnest money. Was under contract for a home and was working with Fairway Independent Mortgage as my lender but along the line I needed to reduce down payment to 10% for which I got approved everywhere else, 5 different lenders at the time, but Fairway and Evelyn refused. It does not matter where you go as all lenders use the same or similar mortgage software(most use Ellie Mae) so basically, with my excellent fico score, 10% down payment and debt to income level, I was approved everywhere for a conventional mortgage and also approved on Fairway mortgage's system but Fairway(Evelyn) refused to offer the mortgage just because they felt I was under contract and thought I could be held to ransom. Eventually contract was cancelled and I lost money I had spent on inspection, home appraisal etc, but I'm glad I cancelled as Fairway mortgage does not deserve my business. During the process, I kept getting emails to sign, sign, sign not "read and sign." Prospective borrowers, do business with them with your eyes wide open and make sure to shop around for outstanding rate, good loan program and great customer service that you deserve. There are way too many lenders out there that will work with you and close on that home than to fall for this "Rippoff Independent Lenders."
