Never Again! I placed my Dad (75 years old with severe Dementia) here in 7/23 for a 10 day respite stay and it was horrible. The issues experienced: Twice daily medications: Dad said no meds some days, some days once, also not crushed and no Apple sauce on most days. I was told it would be no problem to crush his pills and give them with applesauce as he has a problem swallowing medications. New BP medication New BP medication prescribed with no family notification despite your records indicating there was family contact. Also, 30 tablets were dispensed on 10/17/23 and they were ordered 2 tabs/day but only 2 were missing upon his discharge on 10/23/23. Additionally, Dad reported being unusually dizzy at least 1 day. Nurse with incorrect information regarding dehydration. I mentioned in the report to the nurse upon leaving Dad there that he would need encouragement to drink water/ fluids... since that didn't happen, ur staff confirmed that yesterday, i thought maybe he was dehydrated and that may have caused his BP to be elevated but the nurse on duty assured me that dehydration would cause low BP and that's clearly incorrect... this discussion took place before i learned he didn't get his morning and bedtime medications daily, which would clearly cause his BP to increase since his previously prescribed BP medication was to be given every am. Vitals not taken daily. This is appalling especially in light of being put on an additional medication for hypertension. Dad fell and they failed to notify me or visiting family members despite your records indicating there was family contact. Family member visiting Dad said Nurse's Aid fed total care neighbor 2 to 3 bites of food then said, oh you've eaten good, didn't check on either of them except during feeding time. Excessively soaked clothing, I asked that they put a pad in his pullups so he feels drier and won't excessively soil clothing. This never happened and he tried cleaning himself up after soiling his clothing... went thru 10 sets of clothing in 4 days. I requested he be given a cup of cranberry juice daily however the container of juice i provided was 3/4 full upon discharge. Lost black cargo pants despite me stating i did NOT want his clothes washed there. I've come to the conclusion that Respite care doesn't work. This is the 2nd facility that I've utilized and the stays were both very poor. I'm convinced we got off easy and he could've been severely injured due to this facility's negligence and poor nursing care. WE'RE DONE WITH RESPITE CARE!!
