Block Advisors

Be cautious: H&R Block and Block Advisors might look related, but their systems don't talk to each other. I found this out the hard way. I went there for my 2023 taxes and was done in 13 minutes. Fast, right? But too fast to feel right. The advisor, Nazirali Khalifa, rushed me, had me sign things without explaining anything. They only asked if I paid rent, which matters for my taxes in Massachusetts. He nearly mixed up my employer's address with my home address (yep!) and I had to correct him on that. Even though I've been their customer since 2018, he asked for all my info again, saying the system in their office was different from the other office I used to go to (Porter Square). He said it'd be quicker to just re-enter my details. Said nothing about being two different systems entirely. After finishing, he rudely said "follow me" and just disappeared. I ended up wandering around the building, shouting "hello?" until someone tried to help me leave. I had to explain I wasn't trying to leave, but find my advisor, who told me to follow him but I didn't know where. We found the advisor printing my stuff. We rushed through payment, and I left, all within those 13 minutes. This rushed visit left me worried, and rightly so. The next day, I saw my 2023 tax return wasn't in H&R Block's system, and, in addition, my 2022 records had vanished. After several calls, they found my 2022 return and sent me a copy. Could not explain why it was not showing on the website, though. Mystery... And my 2023 return was still missing. My state taxes also hadn't shown up in the Massachusetts system until now. It's been 10 days. We pay at least $159 for their service, expecting not just accuracy but also peace of mind that our documents are safe and in one place. Unfortunately, this wasn't my experience. I recommend looking elsewhere for tax services. I was confident in their services until now, but their work has gone downhill. The issues I faced show a lack of care and organization.

I was deeply hurt by my experience here. The CPA let me waited 30 minutes past our appointment time, even when she is in the office minding her own business. The front desk refused to pass any request for me, and showed zero courtesy or empathy. I felt helpless, as if I am begging them for a tax return. Why do I deserve such an experience when I would be paying hundreds of dollars for a simple tax return? So I left, and will not come back here again.
