The employees were efficient, some blunt but working with the public will do that. The woman who assisted me with renewing my health coverage was very kind and patient and helpful. :)

I went to DWSS on 1/11/2024. Due to heavy snow they were closed but they had not announce it on their website. I was driving but I saw three families who commute there by bus and did not know the division was closed. This is not how you serve public!

Spent over an hour waiting when it was just after opening when we got there. And then got to listen to "compassionate" workers talk about being tired of seeing the same clients struggling in the same ways at every recertification. These people have obviously never struggled like those they work for and it shows in the lack of consideration and genuine caring.

I am grateful for the services offered here. When in need, they can be essential. I have utilized the Snap program during covid and a short time of unemployment. They also recommend applying for health care & services. I believe that option has literally been a life saver for myself and others I've known. Until my most recent encounter, I've had extremely helpful and kind employees help me achieve my needs. Unfortunately, in March of this year, I had to apply for services following a car accident where I was hit by a drunk driver. My renewal application was due. I thought I had completed the paperwork to the best of my abilities. I always receive assistance from the employees to review my paperwork prior to submitting anything. However, it had been snowing, and for the 1st time, to my knowledge, the government offices closed for 2 days. As my luck had it, my paperwork was due the 1st day of the closure. I thought it'd be best to turn in my renewal forms using the outside box. Nervous my renewal had not been received, I went in person 2 days after they reopened. I was told my forms had been mailed to Las Vegas and might take over a month to be verified! As it was, somehow my forms landed in Fallon 2 days later instead. In peron, I informed them of my return to work date and explained that I was confused whether my time of absence had been considered a leave of absence or not. I believed I had clarified any concerns or confusion. I couldn't have been more wrong. Apparently, when my forms arrived in Fallon, the office officials called my workplace to verify information that I had already corrected in person. As a result, I was fired from my job of over 13 years! I was never asked for an explanation, and the fact that I had completed the information in person prior to my paperworks arrival didn't seem to matter. I returned to the Reno office 3 times, asking to understand the situation better. I was repeatedly told that there was originally a misunderstanding due to dates on my forms. However, my in person interview superceded the paper questionnaire. After explaining my situation, I asked to have some sort of document provided to me for my work that would verify there had been no misinformation or fraud of any kind. I was told that's not something they do. I could only obtain a copy of my entire history of my case, and that would show there had been no problems and that I was in good standing with their office. I asked to speak to a manager when somehow I was directed to the same employee 3 times. I was not able to speak to management myself. The front desk employee profusely apologized for the inconvenience and repeatedly stated they did not understand how my paperwork from their office could have such an impact on my employer. While I absolutely agreed and was equally confused. I would have appreciated a little more effort and understanding from the state's employees. Unfortunately, there was no happy ending to this story. Eventually, I lost hope of getting the help I needed and gave up asking for it. I'll be forever reluctant to seek any assistance or services from this office. In fear, a simple mistake could cause so much negativity, and in any such experience, I know the staff is either incapable or unwilling to help make it right! I share my lengthy personal experience with you all as a warning and recommendation. Be as accurate and precise as you can when completing any & all official forms. Seek help to review any materials you may be uncertain of. Also, keep as much documentation as possible. You may need it in the future. Here's to me hoping no one else will ever have an experience similar to mine. Best of luck.
