I like how this clinic function, which the providers do not need to worry about billings so they can focus on the treatment. It has a pretty large network of different mental health resources. The customer service is also pretty responsive.

Unhappy with their billing department as they continued to schedule and allow me to carry out appointments under the assumption that my insurance was active. Apparently at the time, it was not and they billed me fully for multiple appointments instead of informing me and allowing me to cancel. Very, very upsetting as I thoroughly enjoyed my therapist and followed her to this practice and as a single mom, an extremely high bill is something I cannot afford. Doing GREAT things for people with mental health issues!!!

Edited: I just read the response the owner left and would like to say that is still not acceptable. Why would someone who is NOT treating a patient at all be able to override what their therapist wrote on a form? For everyone reading this that should let you know how they operate. They have nurse practitioners as therapists who they then undermine when they give an evaluation. Why even have them as therapists? I do not need this place to correct any problem for me as we are done with you but I would like to warn any future person that is thinking about coming here so they do not have almost a year of their time wasted. Thanks. Being here writing a review to begin with is very upsetting because this is not something I normally take time out of my day to do because I am at home looking after a toddler and a man with severe ptsd. I have enough things on my plate. I have to take a moment and warn anybody that is thinking to come here. I would not recommend it so long as the medical director continues to be Dr. Elias. My partner experienced a traumatic experience while on the job as a firefighter. He was being treated by a nurse practitioner in rivia mind. Leonor. She signed off on his medical paperwork so he could retire. We ran into an issue because Leonor is a nurse practitioner and not an actual doctor. Her supervisor Dr. Elias was only supposed to sign off on HER employees assessment but she went on to completely change the form and make her own assessment that the patient can get better. When she has NOT been the one treating him. He is telling her he had to retire due to what happened and hes also 100% permanent and total loss with the VA. She completely dismissed all of that. He explained to her that theyve cancelled his insurance and our daughters due to her sitting on this form and then when finally signing it putting the complete opposite of the employee that is ACTUALLY treating him. Also when he first brought to her attention that they cancelled his insurance because she hadnt done the form her comment was to him was how are you going to pay for this session?. This happened in a session he was about to have with Leonor. This is a company that is talking about mental health left and right on their website but this is what they are doing in actuality. Just tread lightly is all I can say. Edited: Oh I meant to add that their way of trying to fix the situation is to have HER directly call him after how far the situation has escalated . She was still unsympathetic to the situation and was no help. He was so upset and said I dont want nothing to do with you or rivia mind. Which is understandable with the stress this is adding on to what hes already going through and her response was just okay. This is the MEDICAL DIRECTOR. No care, no sympathy, no heart for patients.

In a word: predatory. I thoroughly recommend my provider but Rivia as an organization seems financially predatory. I have had my second appointment with Dr. Shah. I only need medication management and some paperwork, I thought it was odd that instead of the customary appointment every month for refills, Dr. Shah booked me for an entire year at every other week. I let that go and assumed that she was just a careful and thoughtful provider. After I got my first statement it appears they are charging me double the usual co-pay for my insurance. I have reached out to my insurance company to clarify why Im being charged nearly $50 for a single session and Ill update when I have that information. Furthermore, my disability re-certification team reached to Dr. Shah to have them fill out the paperwork and theyre attempting to charge me $200 to fill out a two page form and send the medical records Im legally entitled to as a patient. I looked up the laws and regulations for disabled patients and Im only allowed to be charged $75 maximum for medical records. Its becoming apparent to me that this organization as a whole is either horrendously organized and lack any true empathy for their patients to the point that it makes them unreasonably demanding OR theyre money hungry and nickel and dime their patients. Whatever the answer is, I strongly advise you to find another organization that prioritizes ethics and the patient experience. Ill likely be doing the same. EDIT: The email speaks for itself regarding what they were willing to charge me and why. The idea that Rivia would try so hard to get ahold of me and then write in the reviews that it charges $200 to fill out a two page form but the records are free is at best ignorant and worst dishonest. They couldve scheduled a session with me and charged my insurance company the $200, it couldve been part of an integrated session, and indeed that is usually what offices do but instead they went about this the most scammy way possible. The fact they would stick to passing this off as normal or otherwise justified was expected and that is why I didnt pick up their phone calls. All of that aside, the mental gymnastics of providing justifications of charging $200 for a two page form - because there are no other actions expected or requested - is a bit ludicrous. I would highly suggest to find another practice. There are thousands of providers in the city. Why deal with any of this headache at all?
