Joe Payne Photography

Joe was absolutely AMAZING for my maternity shoot!! Im so in love with the photos and he was such a pleasure to work with! I wanted to go when the cherry blossoms bloomed, and I couldnt have had better communication from Joe keeping me updated on when they were supposed to bloom. He even came back a second time to get some pictures with my husband since he was out of town on the day we were shooting. I cant recommend him enough, he was absolutely fantastic!

I was so thrilled to be able to have Joe for my wedding photographer! Once I knew I was getting married at the Duke Chapel, I knew I needed a photographer with plenty of experience shooting inside such a magnificent location. I loved Joe's photography style - our photos were done beautifully without feeling staged. Joe also captured lovely candid "in the moment" photos during our wedding that I will cherish forever. I also can't forget to mention how it rained for the entirety of my ceremony, and derailed all of our plans for shooting around the Chapel that day. Once again, I knew Joe would handle it, and him and his team were able to quickly pivot plans so I could still get first look and family photos even though it was pouring rain outside. Bonus points for getting the most lovely pictures with our dog, Obi. These are my most special photos :)

We used Joe for our wedding in Oct '23 at the JC Raulston Arboretum (as well as a prewedding shoot) and he was wonderful to work with! We loved his creativity and artistic eye for how he framed his shots and he was truly a pleasure to work with. He was very engaging, collaborative, and produced some wonderful shots! He also experimented with using film which we loved as well. We highly recommend using Joe for your photo session. Thank you, Joe, (and to your colleague as well) for great photos and a wonderful experience too!

We are so so happy we chose Joe to do our wedding and engagement photos. He does an absolutely fantastic job, and I couldnt recommend him more!!! Not only are the final pictures PHENOMENAL, but Joe made us feel so at ease during all the photo taking. Lots of laughs and fun times. He finds the best photo spots, both at our engagement shoot in downtown Raleigh, and our wedding at the Umstead in Cary. We are so pleased with the high-quality, beautiful pictures Joe delivers. Highly highly recommend!!!

I can't say enough good things about Joe Payne Photography and how awesome he was at our civil wedding session and the formal wedding! He aced both sessions! The civil wedding session was a more intimate one, and Joe was there to mode up our emotions and capture them all. The photos turned out fantastic that way exceeded our expectations. Each picture was a masterpiece! We were also impressed by Joe and his assistant during the formal wedding day. It was a pretty hot day. Both photographers arrived early and we had a bunch of photos taken at the hotel we were staying at, including both interior scenes and outdoor scenes. Their guidance on extracting emotions was so important. Our photos couldnt be that lively without their help. For our formal wedding session at Duke Chapel, Joe and his assistant were able to capture our most emotional moments that we love so much! The same for the reception, even though it had been a long day, Joe and his assistant were still very focused on photo-shooting. We even sneaked outside of the reception area and took many sunset photos in the golf course adjacent to the hotel. Again, all photos were so amazing. Another amazing part of Joe was that from the get-go, Joe was super chill and professional. We have many guests and relatives attending our wedding and Joe just had this knack for making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera, which was huge on our big day when emotions were running high. In all, I would say our wedding couldnt be so successful without Joe and his assistant as our photographers. They truly made it to preserve our cherished moments into photos that we can save forever!
