If you value your money you'll want nothing to do with this place. They only care about generating fees for themselves and that's it. they push annuities, "alternative" investments, and non-traded funds that all have one thing in common, the highest expense ratios in the industry. and why do they suggest these products over traditional investments? because from these expenses the the issuer is able to pay the highest commission to the financial advisor. this is their ONLY objective. to generate commissions for themselves. they could absolutely care less about you and your money. worse yet, they are affiliated with LPL financial who allows the adviser to keep the highest percentage of fees in the industry and sell risky products that other brokerage firms do not allow.
So if your advisor calls you and says how he is moving over here, I would suggest parting ways. He will probably tell you about all the wonderful new opportunities that will be available. he's not necessarily lying. but the opportunities are for him, not you. he will also tell you how LPL is "objective" because they don't sell their own products. this is half-true. they don't. what they do is allow their advisors to sell risky products with high expense ratio's that generate high fee's that other firms wont allow and then split the commission. they don't sell their own junk products, they simply profit off everyone else's.
Bottom line: you'd be better off putting your money under your mattress than allowing these people to handle it.
