Bought a house from them over five years ago. Im in a house that I like, but it didnt come with appliances. The furnace and AC had to be replaced. Those are my biggest gripes especially since they knew I was low income. However, it has turned out to be worth the investment especially with rising rent/housing costs. They were also super helpful/efficient when it came to refinancing and worked with me with needed paperwork.

Beware! Beware! This agency is not helpful! First time in my life going through this business, I was scheduled an appointment on Friday March 1st 2024 with HOTH for ERA with Corissa Dyer it lasted approximately 2 hours I asked her to look through my application during the appointment to make sure everything is accurate and she said nothing no response. I advised her to make sure she does not overlook the additional added fees section on my application and to make sure late fees and court charges are added, she then said she couldn't add that information in which was confusing me because previous 3rd party ERA organizations had done so and the application was approved with no issues. I began to wonder if Corissa was telling me wrong due to the fact no one had ever ever advised this to me previously plus I am unfamiliar with HOTH process plus in other circumstances I've had many experiences with bad customer service and staff representatives telling me the wrong thing and management having to recorrect it later. Corissa said if she added or applied the additional charged fees to my application it would get denied but wanted to make sure first, she advised me she would contact someone to ask questions first and then let me know before she submits. She lied, she actually submitted my application for ERA with miscalculations the late fees and it got automatically rejected and then sent me an email telling me she submitted my application the way she said it would get rejected with fees and errors and that I had missing signatures which later she advised me all the signatures were there and she just thought they weren't. The email I received on March 4th 2024 from HOTH states that my application is rejected but I was advised by the staff at the City of Columbus who internally processes these applications sent to them for funding that they i.e. HOTH can resubmit my application again all I need to do is resend my documents to them which are multiple lengthy pages by the way. Though HOTH has the ability to resubmit a fresh new ERA application with new calculations and the City staff said it is fine, HOTH denied me of that right. Both Corissa Dryer and manager Daniel Ruggiero at Homes on the Hill said no to assisting me a qualified Columbus Ohio Franklin County resident and USA citizen who has had a severe extensive layoff since 2020 COVID calendar year. Which means they don't really have a heart to help those in need get the assistance and could care less about homelessness prevention. I would never buy a house here, their staff exposed their true colors, when I am ready to upgrade I wouldn't buy to own here. When I asked the manager Daniel why can't they resubmit me, he did not have a firm answer as to the reason why not. He just advised me they are very busy and to move on, go to another organization to restart the process all over again. Then he referred me to a place which is currently fully booked including their wait-list. Though they have all of my paperwork, ID and information in their possession to resubmit me again correctfully, they refuse! I explained this to a few close people in my life that I know and they said it sounds unethical and discriminatory that they are in unwilling to resubmit me for ERA. Especially for such a serious matter as ERA and this is the first time I've ever gone through them. They did not apologize for submitting my application incorrect with the wrong calculations knowing it would get rejected that way, because Corissa herself told me that it would get rejected during the appointment if she applied the late fees and other fees. She also did not accurately look over my application during my two hour appointment to double check it, as I am unfamiliar with this organizations process because as I said before this is the first time I have ever gone through HOTH. I am appalled at their staff's behavior and am turned off from their establishment all together, they are refusing to resubmit an ERA application for someone who needs it! Beware! Beware!
