I am praying this City Attorney does not allow the property owner and property management to continue to retaliate against paying tenants, who have never been late and paid in advance through the close of the lease. City code violations currently exist and code has had to reach out to owner in the past during COVID when home inspections were prohibited. The property owner is a menace who did a quick flip without proper inspection, misrepresented rentals (2 exist) and refused and/or made excuses when tenant requested remedy. Following external intervention from governmental agencies such as Ohio Attorney General and City Code Enforcement is when property owner was forced to complete some repairs and this angered him. He and property management now have outstanding violations and refuse to address any repair/maintenance requests. Each has ignored reach outs and notified tenants to vacate. A lease renewal was offered then retracted. This owner and property management are aware that the extensive floor damage in the laundry area post pre move in leaks require relocation of tenants for at minimum seven days. These wrongdoers do not want the expense. The owner became angry when tenant refused to lie to homeowners insurance about when the leaks began. He asked tenant to state the leaks started upon move in and each refused. Short story is this landlord is retaliating and it is illegal, yet no one cares or has alternate options for the family that will be homeless. These are paying tenants that have to go to a shelter? But guess what? The shelter (YWCA Family Shelter) says HUD standards does not allow adult mentally Ill individuals to remain together. A male age 20 with mental illness would need to go to a men shelter alone with a recent diagnosis of unspecified psychosis. There is no help for people faced with retaliation and no housing options in crisis. The City Code Inspector has provided tenants with the retaliation paperwork and noted she will pick up on return to see if landlord is in compliance. Well, landlord has not started any work to date and his property management sent a text asking tenant to confirm they will be out so vendors can come in and rehab the unit. Instead of upholding duty and repairing a non rent ready unit while tenants lived there and paid, they retract lease renewal to get them out to rehab. Shame on them! Hopefully these poor businesses are held accountable as this goes on more often than reported. Tenants should have protections against this. It is written that they do but they dont! Slumlords retaliate and no one cares. This family will be on the street with a toddler by no fault of their own but not one person or agency can help them. Be on alert for the owner and property management of any property on Hubbardton Place Reynoldsburg Ohio. Currently the whole cabinet may fall and despite notice to City Code, landlord and property management there has been no immediate resolution. Now if it falls on a household member such as the toddler, the tenant would be wrong for for being a claim, right? Sick of those in position to make property owners and there representatives take responsibility and uphold their end f the contract just overlooking and sweeping under the rug. Praying this time is different! Shared a few pics - many more exist. This poor behavior, intentional ill will and infliction of harm must stop. Rent was paid, never late, on time and in advance! Why are the tenants facing homelessness? Clear retaliation thats why? Who is going to intervene and put a stop to it?
