My 94 year old father needed to give up his independent living apartment after experiencing a debilitating health issue. With very little time to make a plan, we needed to fast track "a place for dad" when the hospital was ready to discharge Dad with hospice. My sister consulted the website "A Place for Mom" and was provided with 4 Assisted Living communities within a 5 mile radius of her home. Tours were set up for the next day and we were on our way to learn about the world of Senior Care. Being unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the Senior Care business, we progressively learned more and more with each tour. The staff at Redwood Hts was awesome and understood the urgency of our need. We learned so much from them about care levels, Medicaid, aide response time expectations (2 min) , and their focus is placed on meeting the needs of the residents. Dad was going to need a significant level of care and the staff readily indicated they would provide for and meet all Dad's needs. Based on what we learned and saw for ourselves, Redwood Heights checked all our boxes and we had a new apartment for him the day after our visit and he was moved in the day after that. Dad's been at Redwood Hts. for three weeks and we are finding all the aides to be friendly, caring, and attentive people. They respond quickly when he signals for assistance. They know him by name; and when they see us, they know we belong to him. Other observations: Meals look great. They come to his apartment plated on the same plates as the dining room. Anything with a lid or cap is opened for him which is very much appreciated as he is quite weak. No one hovers or waits around once he is served. Someone stops by later to remove plates and such. The activity schedule is interesting and special days/holidays are observed. Whenever I visit I see residents socializing with each other and with staff in the public areas. The overall ambience of the community is clean and bright and the grounds/parking lot are well kept. Redwood Heights is the perfect fit for Dad. All the caregivers are attentive, kind, friendly, and to be admired for what they do. My main priority of a safe and caring environment for Dad is achieved at Redwood.

What a fantastic find for dad. I knew next to nothing about moving from independent to assisted living. It was a huge learning curve. There is a lot to consider in regard to current and future cost, current physical needs and future needs. Not to mention staff availability to meet all the needs of the residents. At Redwood Heights, the building may be dated and they dont have all the fancy bells and whistles as some of the other places in town I toured but they have a solid activity schedule, good food and quality people to care for my dad in a safe environment. The meals smell delicious, are of good quality and my dads preferences and favorites are being met. I love the meal variety on the menu (wish they could cook for me!) and that they have options if the main meal does not appeal to him. Residents can be seen visiting in the dining area and lobby, taking in the sun outside (when its warm enough and shining) and participating in physical or crafting activities. We chose Redwood Heights for the people who work there and the level of service they provide. The staff are very caring and upbeat. We have always been met with smiles and warm greetings on the floor and when they come and help dad. Our decision to move dad to Redwood Heights is a big win for us and for him. I am very happy with the outcome!
