Artists and people who seriously want to "up" their drawing and painting skills should take a good look at Atelier Dojo Fine Arts Academy in Austin.   The instructors Jennifer Balkan and Roz Seriz are accomplished artists AND excellent instructors.  They teach a traditional academy approach in a relaxed studio environment with helpful fellow students. The experience is virtually guaranteed to sharpen your artistic eye and improve your techniques in the media instructed.  Not inexpensive but the outcomes are well worth the financial investment in yourself.

I have been going to Atelier Dojo for several years now and I am a huge fan of this place. Atelier Dojo offers the perfect blend of classical and contemporary art instruction. The instructors are some the best artists in the fine art world. In addition to academy instruction that is on par with Florentine ateliers, Atelier Dojo hosts evening classes for those wanting to brush up on their painting and drawing skills. You can also attend any of their open studio sessions if you just want to explore the space and meet fellow artists. I definitely recommend checking this place out!!!

The Dojo is full the brim with skill! You'll find yourself learning from teachers and students alike. There's a certain level of dedication that exists within these falls that you can feel in your bones! I meet people all over the city sprouting compliments, which says a lot because I host drawing socials and bounce around art studios all over Austin. It's been said that Atelier Dojo is the place to be! Pictures feature : student work from Danny Grant's 6-week, 6-session Intro to Figure Drawing session from a few months back!

I love Atelier Dojo! I'm there at least once a week for the open studios where they have a model sitting for three hours and you can just come in and paint or sketch. They have a good amount of easels and taborets ready for you to use. It's a wonderful place to practice your skills, meet other creative souls and some phenomenal artist including the ladies who started Dojo. The workshops they offer are with respected well know international artist (that you would get a little starstruck with when you meet them haha) All in all just a wonderful place to be.
