Absolutely 500% recommend purchasing sod from this company! I had called Lon on many occasions ahead of time to ask questions about sod, and he always answered my calls and very patiently answered my questions. Lon is very knowledgeable about sod and all things having to do with lawns. This was my first and only experience with starting a lawn from sod. After this experience, in my opinion, is the ONLY way to start a lawn! I made arrangements to pick up the sod directly from Lon at the sod farm. The sod had been cut that morning and was neatly placed on a pallet (I had bought 420 square feet). Lon used the forklift to place it on the flatbed truck for us. It was a smooth and quick transaction and we were on our way. Lon and his crew were very professional. The sod was nicely rolled in 10 square foot rolls and weighed only about 40# per roll, which made it so I was able to easily handle and lay out the rolls with ease. My 80 year old mother and I created a masterpiece with the lawn in my backyard. We kept the sod moistened until we were able to lay it out, which was a little over 48 hours after it was cut. Within about 5 hours I had a beautiful lawn, was thrilled then and even more thrilled now that it has taken root and is so very beautiful. It's been 5 weeks since it was laid out. I cut the grass for the first time last week, it is so green and full. I have yet to pull any weeds from it. Absolutely beautiful! At the bottom part of my lawn was grass that I dug up from another area in my yard, and that was hard work. In hindsight it would have been easier to get more sod from Lon, but all is well now and it's all come together to give me an awesome lawn! My son and daughter -in-law after trying to grow lawn from seed, having a massive amount of weeds to pull, and admiring how beautiful my lawn has turned out, have decided to also purchase sod from Thayn Turf! Prices are unbelievably low for no doubt the hard work that is put into growing the sod. If you can pick it up yourself, it's very reasonable. To have it delivered is where it can get costly. Highly, highly recommend this company and will be back for more should I want to plant anymore in my yard! Thank you!
