        We attended a homeschool field trip at Zoology Zone. It was a great experience! The staff members were wonderful, and we had so much fun. The owner was very knowledgeable, and he taught us so much about science in a couple hours. The zone had many hands on activities for small children, and my older son enjoyed the hurricane simulator. My kids loved the experiments and all the reptiles.

        It should go without saying that if you have hours posted in which you are supposed to be open, then you should be open during those hours. I showed up at 3:05. They started their music while I was unloading my kids. We got up to the door and it was locked. A full-blown tantrum meltdown later and I'm waiting in the car to see if they unlock the doors and watch another family go up and try the doors and then leave. I would have loved to have checked this place out, but apparently they don't care enough about their business to open their doors when they're supposed to be open. An hour and a half drive there and back for nothing. Super frustrating. Was hoping this could be a spot for one of my two little kids birthdays but not at this rate. After waiting 40 minutes I thought hey, maybe I should check their Facebook. They did post on Facebook that they would be closed this weekend. Not everyone uses Facebook though. Some people check websites. The first thing I saw pop up on their website was their winter hours. No mention of them being closed this weekend. I let the other family waiting know what I found out and we are leaving. I'm not sure if I'm going to give this place a second chance or not

      Good morning, Jennifer. This is Andy McKee, CEO here at the Zoology Zone Science Center. As a father myself, I understand your frustration - and I apologize for that. I thank you for making the trip to come and see us, and wish that you would have gotten to experience the cool things we are trying to do for our community. As a completely self funded organization, we are doing the best we can juggling out of town events and staffing to stay open here. I simply did not have enough staffing to open our facility and be at our event in Morgantown, but to assume that we don't care about our business is simply untrue. For years now, we have served thousands of families in our community with absolutely no outside funding and relying only on fundraising, events, birthday parties, and donations to stay open, care for our over 90 rescued animals, and try to get folks excited about science and conservation.This weekend, we were booked at a 2-day large event that was all hands on deck. We posted on all of our social media outlets, but I failed to update the website - that was an oversight on my part and am sorry. Google won't let you update things on a temporary basis and sometimes won't update for days anyways. On our website, we encourage everyone to check our socials because it's the fastest way we can get information out, but you are right - not everyone has social media - I should have updated the site. I'm sorry the situation made you leave us a 1 star review, but I can assure you that the Zoology Zone Science Center experience is anything but 5-stars
