Both Torsion springs snapped in our garage and our car was stuck inside. No matter what I tried I just could not get the door to open manually. I called American Overhead Door and within a few hours a technician came out and fixed everything. Great experience from the moment I called to when the technician left. 100% would recommend to anyone.

ZERO FOLLOW UP SERVICE AFTER INSTALL!!! I replaced 3 openers in my garage on Nov 29th that were 20 yrs old. 1 broke and I figured I'd replace all 3 to have them all be the same frequency, etc. Now for the installation and job done by the technician I'd have given 5 stars with no complaints, but I decided to give 1 star so this is read by potential customers. The problem is the "after the sale" service I received which in short is "we'll come back out but you'll have to pay"... REALLY??? So, near the end of January a new problem popped up that I didn't have with the old doors (I built in 2001). On a clear, sunny day with the angle of the sun, I developed a new problem that the sun was directly shining on one of the eyes and the door won't close. It thinks there's something in the way and the door goes back up, which defeats the purpose of having a remote opener if you have to open the other door, go inside and hold the wall remote to override the eyes so it'll shut, walk back out thru the other door and then close that one from the vehicle. Now I know it's the sun because if you block it with your body then it'll close, and it only occurs on clear days. I called and explained the situation and the answer I got from them, after buying 3 openers 2 months earlier, was we can come out, but it will cost you a service call fee or you can try to fix it yourself by swapping the eyes. I said "it hasn't been a problem for 20 yrs and now it is with the new openers (same manuf. Liftmaster), you can't even come to see if you can fix the new problem?" Of course she said, "well, it'll go away eventually when the sun gets higher in the sky, but I guess that doesn't help you now". That's right it will get better in another month or 2... but it's NOT FUN NOW IN THE WINTER WHEN IT'S BELOW ZERO and it's going to be a 3-4 month long, sunny day, annual problerm. I'd stay away from these clowns at all cost..... No one's "after sale service" can be worse than this!! Thanks for taking my money for installing.... nothing else!!

Waited for over a month and a half for them to keep telling me they’re waiting for a technician consistently puts me on hold doesn’t ever give me an actual answer and then says they’re going to put me on hold and transfers me to voicemail the absolute worst customer service I’ve dealt with in a long time save yourself the grief of working with these people.

They did a fantastic job of not only replacing new springs, but took their advice and had them put in a larger overhead motor which works more efficiently. Super happy with American Overhead!

Update: I centered the chain guide bar, which was 3 inches off. I also reprogrammed the opener so it would close at the right spot. I decided to do it myself because I have a tight schedule. I do appreciate the response from the Manager. We had a opener installed in October 2019, right before we moved in. No one explained anything about how to lubricate or take care of it to anyone...when I got home from work, I was not impressed with the installation as the chain was never adjusted and is very loose. The chain guide/bar is far from the center of the door. The opener is supposed to be top of the line, but is very very noisy..the other opener on the other garage door is 20+ years old and is much quieter. Also, they didn't install any light bulbs, because "they don't come with the opener." I am not impressed. I could have done a better installation job, if I had the time. Now, 2 years later, looks like I'll just do the readjustments myself and see if that might help with the loudness of the opener. Its hard to find good workers and decent service now days. I'm just tired of poor workmanship and wasting my time contacting businesses to correct poor quality installations. If you want it done right, you just need to do it yourself or if you see a review of good work done by a named installer, specifically request that installer. Don't just settle for the first opening available.
