American Fossil Quarry

They do have port-a-potties, modified wheel barrows, and tile saws. We packed in our own ice and water, snacks, and cushions for the ground. It would be best to come with big hats and lots of sunscreen. When we go back, I will likely bring something to hold the chisel, so I don't get blisters again. 10/10 will go again! We got so many fossils, and everyone there was so helpful. You could tell they wanted to help us get the very most possible.

Excellent experience. Kyle was extremely helpful sawing rock, and giving guidance. Their setup is very nice with multiple saws to use at your convenience. Found some great fish!

Great place to get out and do something a little different! Kids loved it. Came up from Provo, UT. Very easy to find and everyone was great! Lots to find. The time went by really quick!

I tried this quarry for the first time for two hours and had a very positive experience. Pricing is not too bad and you get to keep everything you find. I really like that they have rock saws to cut your slabs, so you do not end up with a bunch of large slabs to carry back. They also give tools for you to use and the crew is very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in collecting Green River Formation Fish fossils. I also recommend getting there early in the day so you get fresh limestone to split and bring sun glasses. The white limestone can make it hard to see.

We were greeted warmly and given careful instruction by the staff. We had some success with fish and even found something interesting enough to get the attention of the staff. Afterwards, we cut our own fossils, but the staff was right there to show us how to do it and offered to assist if needed. All in all, my entire family had a great time. Based on what I have heard from Friends who have visited neighboring quarries, I can highly recommend American fossil.
