I was trying to get into city hall today for a self tour, but the police stopped me at the south entrance. He cant let me in because of event, but he let a DWP employee in with his nieces to the top floor. Clearly there was no problem for someone going to the top floor. He said the guy is a city employee. but wouldnt allow a city tax payer in. He was very rude, unprofessional to tell me to come back another day. BTW, there was no sign or any notice that city hall was closed to public because of event.

The only entrance is on Main Street. Others are blocked off. Need an ID for security checkpoint. Important: I went at 11am, and they said I was the last through as it was going to be closed for an unexpected event. It was nice that although a weekday, I was the only one up there. Odd. Maybe folk dont know about it. Take an express elevator to 22nd floor. Then in theory, another elevator from 22 to 26th floor. It was out of order though, so I hoofed up the stairs to the 26th. Then, (really) you take a final set of stairs to the 27th. You can step outside once up there, and have all directional views with nice images showing the major landmarks. Make sure to stop at the Mezzanine on the way down. Cool foyer area (and bathrooms there). Highlight for Bosch fans, seeing One Police Plaza and the old LA Times building.
