Just had a talk with a friend about his experience with Brightview (on Roberts Rd). He said there is one doctor who seems to have different prescribing practices than the other doctors. He is not able to schedule with specific doctors. To summarize, one doctor has told him she would no longer prescribe some of his meds. She wants him to have blood drawn but when they tried to do it there, they weren't able to locate a vein after several tries. They had prescribed him several medications that are very addictive. I would think they'd be aware that its dangerous to pull a patient off of these medications. I actually think its unethical and cruel for doctors to do this. They had insisted on putting him on a higher dose than he needed or wanted of one very addictive medication. This is nothing but legal addiction. Even the sedatives and anti depressants they prescribe need to be tapered down or titraited. (One might ask, why are they giving an addict sedatives??) Stopping these medications will drive a person with substance use disorder right back to the streets so they won't get seriously sick.... to purchase some of the excess drugs that are over-prescribed to someone else! Please think hard before letting a doctor put you on the opiate replacement. It's still an addictive opiate and it puts you completely at the doctor's mercy.

We are not your typical "drug rehab" program. Actually, here at BrightView, we don't even use the term "rehab program" at our treatment centers. For those who may be seeking drug treatment for something such as opiate addiction, we primarily prescribe buprenorphine, buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone), and naltrexone (Vivitrol). We do not currently prescribe methadone at our clinics, but we have helped many patients concerned about withdrawal symptoms transition from methadone to another medication. Our intensive outpatient treatment program allows our staff to develop a unique treatment plan that works with each patient's daily life, so they maintain their regular commitments and individual needs. We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most forms of private insurance to make sure that substance abuse treatment is available to anyone who wants to receive our treatment services.
