System for retrieving items from a vehicle after towed from an accident is not clear, or customer friendly. You have to have insurer send an electronic permission note (and it has to be on the "correct" visible section of whatever unknown system they are communicating with your insurer through (2 my permission was noted in the wrong area so they "couldn't see any note" and I was denied access to my vehicle. You are required to call the lot at the park (ballfields) BEFORE arriving to remove the approved, noted items so the "yard worker can bring the vehicle to the front of the gated lot" which is a positive as long as you can reach the yard and get a time frame and THE OPERATIONS HOURS ARE POSTED AS OPEN TILL 5PM BUT YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY IF THE YARD HAS NOT AGREED TO THE ENTRY/RETRIEVAL PRIOR TO 4PM AND THEY WILL STATE THAT THEY CLOSE AT 4:30PM SO I HAVE BEEN DENIED ACCESS (AFTER DRIVING FROM OVER AN HOUR AWAY) AND ARRIVING AT 4PM SO PLAN FOR ERRORS OR MISSING NOTES OR WRONG FACILITY DIRECTIONS (YES, the people that see the notes, and auction vehicles are at a different lot than the place you go to get the stuff, ie rims, stereo stuff, pics, personal stuff are storing / left in your vehicle. Bring your own boxes, bags, tools etc and a tip ; clean up any trash left in the vehicle as they can, and will, (insurance adjusters) de-value your appraisal for interior condition even in totalled autos where everything is flung everywhere ...trust me , I have experience with this process. I hope this can save someone from the time lost due to the SOP the workers are given to follow, and that it is most likely not their choice or fault that it is flawed and not explained or customer friendly at all.
