This company tore out and widened our driveway. It rained and yet they paved over mud and water. Now a year later the driveway is heaving and they also paved my downspouts to be under the drive. This driveway is a mess! After a year of promising to redo the driveway and never showing up, they disconnected their phone number. Attorney General is now helping me pursue this to get my money back!

The first mistake I made was trusting my neighbor hired a good asphalt contractor ... furthest from the truth regarding Paving Solutions. When they did my neighbor's driveway, they did a "total tear-out and replacement" which it needed. Putting in the new driveway, they actually ran out of asphalt material, and had about a 10'x10' section that they had to patch in. That is terrible for appearance and the structural integrity. Someone I work with also used Paving Solutions for a total tear out driveway replacement. After noticing some shoddy work, they talked to Jonathan and Peter who kind of blew them off ... until they threatened to cancel the check they wrote them. Jonathan personally came out the next day and fixed what needed fixed. For my driveway Peter knocked on my door to sell me, and "sell me" he did. Overall my driveway was in good shape and only had issues by the garage and the concrete approach from the street. Peter explained all I needed was a "partial tear out" where they would only remove the old asphalt close to the garage and approach, and then put down new asphalt in those areas with a thin layer over the rest of the driveway. The problem is up by the garage they only removed about three feet. By doing so when the filled that hole with new and then up over the old driveway about the first four feet from the garage actually slopes TOWARDS the house. Even though Peter promised a "smooth transition" from the garage to the new driveway, in multiple spots the new driveway material is up to a half inch above the garage concrete. I pointed this out to Jonathan and he told me "it was fine" and left. I pointed out the same thing to his crew who were still cleaning up, and they agreed it was wrong and that they would come back the next day to tear it out and fix it right. That never happened because Jonathan had already cashed my check told me by phone that his crew didn't have the authority to make that decision. I tried calling Jonathan and Peter multiple times to discuss my dissatisfaction and they never returned my calls. I even went to their pop-up office in a Worthington office building trying to reach them, but the only thing there is a receptionist to take calls.ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY, YOU WILL NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN! IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUE THREATEN THEM YOU WILL CANCEL YOUR CHECK UNTIL IT'S DONE RIGHT. Photos: First and second photos show how water pools by the garage instead of running down he driveway like it's supposed to. Third and fourth pictures (with the boots to show scale) show how smooth my driveway used to be (the photo is actually my neighbors 17 year old original driveway) and the other photo shows how terrible it looks now. I recently met someone who owns a asphalt company for commercial businesses, and he explained it's apparent Paving Solutions uses what's called "base grade aggregate" instead of "finish grade aggregate". He told me it's about half the price of quality finish grade aggregate. Fifth and sixth photos show the transition from the garage concrete. It's supposed to be even with the garage so the water can drain away from the house. Instead photo five shows a significant length clearly above the concrete ... with photo six showing a closeup with the ruler showing it over a full half inch higher. Jonathan tried telling me it wasn't a big deal, and refused to fix it. The seventh, eighth and ninth photos show the cracks along the sides after only two years from the install. My original driveway at 15 years old didn't have any cracks along the sides. The tenth photo shows a small retaining wall made from pricey cut limestone that previously sat on top of my old driveway. Instead of asking me how I wanted to handle this area, they took the fast and lazy unprofessional easy way and laid the new asphalt up to them trapping them in below the new surface. The eleventh photo shows the same thing with a landscaping stone that they could have easily picked up done the right way. Instead they didn't bother and trapped it down with the edge of the asphalt Find anyone else for your job!
