Honesty is important when you get your vehicle inspected and this shop will tell you what needs to be done and what can wait. I had an oil change and inspection and was out within 30 minutes. They also have a cute dog

I had been having an engine hesitation happening at a higher speed only (75mph) and stopped into Grand Prairie Auto after work last week purely based on the good reviews. The younger fella (Joe, I think) was lovely, answered all my questions and we narrowed the problem down to possibly spark plugs, fuel pump or transmission since my car has a known transmission issue and no codes were being thrown. Joe told me to bring my car in first thing Saturday morning, he even offered to diagnose the problem free of charge. ...see lovely! Come Saturday morning and I drop my car off with a promise to ring once the mechanic a chance to look at it. They hadn't rung and it was now after 2pm so I rang to check progress...this is where is went downhill and quickly. A young lady answered, told me she needed to check with the mechanic. When she came back, she advised my car was ready, nothing was wrong other than my tires needed to be balanced. Why are they checking my tires?? They were asked to diagnose my engine hesitation...this wasn't a tune up. In fact, when I asked for some paperwork telling me what they checked, the girl said "we didn't do anything." I like to keep records of my vehicles maintenance and repairs so if you do too, be warned this mob does not do paperwork. And it wasn't free of charge either...you charged me $85. I would still like to know what you checked on my car worth $85...it surely wasn't the spark plugs like we discussed. In fact, the hesitation occurred on my way home from picking my car up. So I went to O'Reilly's picked up spark plugs and changed them myself...this would be how I know you didn't check them. If you had, you definitely would have advised replacing them, they were that bad. I tried once more to find out what was checked by ringing, the older fella with a strong accent answered, I suspect the mechanic. After asking twice with his reply being "I did diagnostic 85" both times, I realized he wasn't going to tell me. Again, I asked what did you check as I mentioned the problem was still happening he said " bring to me, I fix." I'm sorry, no! I've already given you an opportunity and because you didn't have a code to go by, well I guess you just couldn't figure it out so why would I give a second chance to charge me for doing nothing but seeing a tire light illuminated on my dash? I need a new pressure sensor not a wheel balance. I felt patronized and dismissed honestly because I attempted once more and asked him to tell me what was checked and got a very stern, smug, "No! You bring to me. I fix!" Anyway I didn't ask you to check my tires. I've worked the problem out on my own so you lost that work and you've also lost me as a potential customer. Also, ladies...not sure how you like to be treated when trying to get your vehicle serviced but if you're not a fan of patronizing, dismissive male superiority or being charged $85 for nothing...I'd think twice.
