Ms. Miller, Thank you for having your pets spayed and neutered. When clients make appointments, they are informed of the standard pick-up times. For our clients who have an email, we send an email confirmation on the day the appointment is made, and two additional reminder emails the week prior to the scheduled appointment. All three of these emails contain the following guidelines for drop-off and pick-up: “Please arrive at the clinic at 7 a.m. You must be at the clinic no later than 7:20 a.m. Cats must come in a secure cat carrier, and dogs must be on a leash. Dogs are ready for pickup at 4 p.m., and cats at 4:45 p.m. We close at 5:00 p.m.” All three of your emails were successfully delivered to the email address you provided.During morning check-in, all clients sign acknowledging receipt of the postoperative instructions, pick-up times, and late fees. These same pick-up times and late fees are also posted in the lobby. All clients sign during morning check-in, acknowledging the pick-up times. As part of the morning check-in, we verify each client's telephone number and instruct the client that they will only receive a text message if their pet will be ready prior to the established pick-up times. All clients are told that no text message means that the pet will be ready at the pre-established times. These steps were followed when you brought your last pet in.I understand that you are frustrated that you arrived after our closing hours of 5:00 p.m. and were charged the $35 late fee. The Alabama Animal Alliance is a small non-profit organization, and we must be very efficient to offer the low-cost life-saving services we provide at such an affordable price. We do not receive any city, county, or state funding, and as such, we strive to serve as many clients as possible with the limited funding we have available. Thank you again for helping to reduce the pet overpopulation problem by having your pets spayed and neutered.
