This is our favorite place, its our go to place. Tuna pokey is outstanding as well as everything else weve eaten. The salmon, salads, ribs, sliders, and the burger. Wow, Grass Roots is one of the best in Scottsdale.

This is not a sports bar though they serve cocktails and beer and have TV's, it's not a counter at Thrifty Drug though they have a sizable counter, it's not gourmet dining but their dishes are interesting and tasty and it is not fast food but you don't have to wait too long. Then what is it? My take is....it's all of the above at a very pricey cost in a popular McCormick Ranch location. We ate here on a Sunday at the counter, we were seated immediately. They have chairs, not mounted stools, but the chairs are close promoting chat with your new neighbor, generally starting with "Excuse me, so sorry." There are also a few booths that can fit families, but no kids were there that I saw, and there are a dozen or so 4-top tables along an expanse of window to Hayden Road...nice. I had a chicken salad and it waaass tasty! My partner had shrimp and grits, goodly sized. The grits were upgraded with jalapeo peppers. We skipped the alcohol. Our bill was north of $55 with tip. I would go here again for a quick decent lunch if I was in the area, but it would probably not be a destination restaurant I would drive far for. All tolled you will not leave disappointed.
