Years back i was struck by a dodge ram. Broke my tibia and fibia and other bones on my right leg. Also ruptured an artery on my right leg, which i had emergency surgery for within a the hour. It took me a full year just to walk again. And i had rods screwed into my leg bones with a metal fixator attached for about 5 months since i also had a full right knee reconstruction. But had to wait months for my ruptured artery to heal. I told by Drs and therapist that my injuries were very extensive and i was lucky to still have my leg not to mention the implications of a ruptured artery. Well i decided to hire law tigers since they specialize in motorcycle accidents. And i trusted that they would advocate for me and given there experience would get me the appropriate compensation due to my injuries and being out of work for more than a year. In fact i only went back to work because i had no option, it was either that or get fired due to fmla expiring. I was in extreme pain for a couple years while working and heavily relying on pain meds just to get thru my 8 hr shift. To date i still suffer from pain and not being able to have full function of my right leg and a partially numb right foot. I will never fully recover from the injuries from that accident and looking back i realize i was given a misery for a settlement. The lawyer did not fight for me as they claim and simply told me to take the 10k for settlement since that was all i was gonna get no matter what. Ive had many people tell me how they had accidents with no where near what my injuries were and received substantially more for there injuries and compensation for the future medical bills and loss of income due to there injuries. I realize now that the lawyer representing me never even brought up that concern and i feel that he failed me by not even bring it up that point. I had no experience in law and handling any litigations. I know realize that i was robbed of future compensation for my injuries. I am a Marine Corps Veteran who would go on morning runs daily before my accident. When i asked the Dr. treating my right leg at the time, how long before i can start running again. He looked at me and very candidly said. Given your injuries youll be fortunate if we can get you to walk again without a limp or the need of a cane. And basically told me my right leg would never be the same again and i would possibly need another surgery on my right knee as i aged. I realized then that, My dream of becoming a police officer would no longer be possible for me. I recently left my job of 20+ years because of my injuries from that accident years ago. And i now struggle to make ends meet. Before my injuries i could work long hours without any problem and i was making really good money. But since my accident i began having to reduce my earning capacity year over year to the point of having to leave my well paying job of 20 years with excellent benefits.
Therefore If you are currently going thru a similar situation i advise to consider the future complications you will suffer due to your injuries. And also the reduction in quality of life for the rest of your life. I think especially if you are not at fault in anyway, shape or form. You are a victim of some one elses carelessness or mistake, and you shouldnt have to pay for their mistake. My lack of life experience and completely relying on the lawyer was a huge mistake.
Fight for yourself and your best interest. Dont expect any firm to do so for you at the end of the day its you, who will deal and suffer with the consequences of the injuries from your accident.
Looking back I am convinced that Law Tigers failed me in representing my case.
