Edit April 2024 - New management group Harbor Group Management cycles in and out new faces often. They tried to take away non-digital (check) payments for rent which is against the law. Had a broken AC pipe which flooded for 6 hours before someone showed up. They did not hire a pro to dehumidify after (black mold concerns). I had to ask for a dehumidifier and they didn't even turn it on when they left. My parking spot had calcium drip onto my car from the roof and they reimbursed me as a "one time courtesy"... Rent is still $2600 for a single... Old Review of Sares-Regis management: Disappointed with my experience at The Alamitos managed by Sares-Regis. Management lacks communication skills, avoids emails and clarity in discussions. Amenities reported broken for months have no follow up on the Residents community portal and mysteriously get marked as complete. Still actually broken. They are not proactive, for example some graffiti in the elevator required asking for it to be cleaned up. Graffiti was there several days, I mentioned it to front desk, they said they knew it was there for a few days. It seemed like I had to ask for it to be removed. Two days later it was gone. This is not a "luxury" apartment building. That's basic stuff tenants shouldn't have to mention. I won't talk about thefts or car break-ins because that hasn't happened to me but I have seen the pictures and heard about it. It's happening a lot! Building is nice. Paint is updated and they have regular maintenance crew for floors & gardening that do a nice job. The elevator is quick. Hallway carpets are okay, some stains never cleaned up but no damage. Inside the apartment is okay, but not quite luxury for the price. Paint is a little sloppy. On some door handles and other hooks, etc. Floors are okay with some minor issues near doorways. AC works great and can be controlled through a phone app and automated for home/away. Clean routing of ethernet cables for computers and TV through parts of the space. Several power outlets to accommodate various layouts. Appliances are ok, fridge is awful. Very loud and water dispenser drips down the door. Replaced once with another apartments fridge and this one is worse! The location is also not ideal - not their fault - but police and fire are very active in this area and sirens can be heard day and night. The local gas station usually has cars playing loud music. Motorcycle groups like to ride up the street playing loud music and revving their bikes to get car alarms to go off.

I've been here a few months now, and I've been thrilled! The stories of awful experiences seem to have centered around past changes of management that were poorly executed and even somewhat vindictive. The management team has been rebuilt here and they are friendly, helpful, and available. They threw a champagne Easter party on the roof lounge, just to encourage us to get to know each other. There was a Super Bowl party thrown for the same purpose. I've had a couple above-and-beyond experiences with Myles and Renee. The building is silent, clean, the services are as promised and the public areas are kept up. People use the public grills and kitchens - the stuff works. I agree with some reviews that the public area televisions don't ever seem to be on, but... like who needs that? Sit by an outdoor fireplace and have a conversation. People living here are friendly without exception, and I can see why all the available apartments have filled since I arrived. If you're deciding on a place and aren't used to living in a city, Alamitos Ave has a decent amount of traffic & sirens. Forewarned in case that affects you.

Im a current resident. The good: I love my loft studio apartment. Its beautiful and was brand new when I moved in, great lighting, high ceilings, thick walls so you cant hear the neighbors. Maintenance is great! My appliances dont break down, but if we have a clogged drain, or need new lightbulbs, filters, etc, it gets handled pretty quickly. The bad: Management has failed to make the amount of money I spend here worth it. - My car has been broken into. My bicycle was stolen after the lock was broken. I dont have storage units, but Ive heard those have also been broken into. Management refuses to do anything about it. No cameras, no security personnel. Plus, one of our parking garage gates doesnt work, so it stays open allowing anyone to get in. Its been like this for months and nothing has been done. - None of the TVs work and never have since Ive moved in. None of the bathrooms by the gym or rooftop are ever open so you cant enjoy the rooftop because youd have to run to your own apartment to use the bathroom. Things like barbell pads rip and they dont replace them, the exercise balls never have air in them. - The elevators are constantly breaking down. One time both elevators were down for weeks and I live on the top floor, had to come up and down several times a day to walk my dog, run errands, etc. I dont mind the exercise, but for what Im paying, it doesnt add up. The buttons on the rear side of one elevator are broken so you can get in that way. The call box for garage also doesnt work. - When you file complaints, you never hear back. And generally theres very little to no communication about improvements, or status updates when something is broken.

Do not live here. Most tenants Ive spoken to have had leaks issues. Ours got so bad they had to rip a hole in our bathroom ceiling; exposing us to a large amount of black mold. Not even a discussion was had to inform us that there would be construction. They did not even tell us there was black mold after doing this; we walked into our apartment and there was a hole in the ceiling. It was in between the units, meaning its a structural problem and not just our unit. They told us it was taken care of when I saw they only reached areas that were reachable t from the hole they created. So, they did not get all of the mold, so it could spread further. You can even see in parts of the parking structure that there is black mold. This building should be reported to the city and shut down for the health and safety of its tenants. Renee, the maintenance man, attempted to enter our apartment without notice or even a work order in. Meaning hes entering units when he thinks people are not home. Imagine sitting in your living room and a random man decides to enter unit. The trash chutes for the last two months of us living there were consistently being clogged; to the point where it was backed up to the 7th floor. That included having 3 guest parking spots serving as locations for the other excess trash to sit in. Leading to roaches. The elevators were consistently not working. To the point, where a handicapped person had to have strangers carry them to their unit on a higher floor. Do NOT live here. You can experience an actual luxury apartment community for the same price without all the hazards and safety issues presented by their staff. Who are more interested in the numbers than your well being.
