We switched to Russell CPA in 2019 to do our taxes and assist with estimated taxes (we're both self employed). We were disappointed that Jason was repeatedly unprepared for our meetings so we switched to a new accountant in 2020. In 2021 we both received notices from the IRS regarding errors on our 2019 tax returns. I reached out to Jason for assistance but he merely sent me the worksheet he used and expected me to deal with the IRS on my own. Really?? I hired our current accountant to assist with corresponding with the IRS and getting them the information they required. We finally resolved our issues with the IRS earlier this year - no thanks to Russell CPAs.

Our tax return was a little more complicated than it typically is the team at Russell was: Personable. Helpful. Communicative. Reasonably priced. And they maintain a security portal to allow you to safely upload all of your personal information.

I have very bad experience with Russell CPA. They claimed to know how to calculated 1031 exchange on my tax return in 2020. The return was mis-calculated of $300K income for the exchange and tax due was over $50K.  Have to provided instruction on how to calculate the gain and Jason the owner did not like the instruction and tell him his calculation were incorrection. After many email exchange and threat to tell him that I will have another CPA to redo the tax return and the firm will pay for the amend return. The firm finally did the amended 2020 return. I have to wait over 1yr to get the refund back from IRS. The mistake this firm make is not good. They charged me for 2020 return was $2,100.00.  I will report the firm to BBB and CPA's Board about this firm.  Please stay away.

I tried to schedule a tax meeting with them and they could not even get the right date on their calendar.  How can they do my taxes if they can't schedule a meeting?  I cut ties before the first meeting.  VERY disappointed.
