        Nearly a year ago, I contacted Greene's office to schedule a consultation and was told I would have to pay over $600 in order to speak with Dan. I told Elizabeth at the office that I was not going to pay for a sales conversation but was willing to pay for a legitimate consultation regarding my case, in which I received value for myself. Elizabeth spoke with Dan and agreed with me that Dan would fulfill my requirements. Instead of the consultation we had agreed upon and the agreed upon date, Dan contacted me prior to that, before I had my notes organized for the consultation. We had a sales conversation, and he promised that his associate would come pick up my notes the following day, so we could have the consultation I paid for. His associate never came. I spent the next 6 months attempting to get in contact with Dan and have the consultation. After that point, I hired a different attorney and requested a refund for the consultation I never received from Greene. For the last several months, his office has been putting me off about the refund, then finally promised the refund, and now has refused the refund. I spoke to Dan last week in a final attempt at integrity, and he informed me the sales conversation we originally had, was in fact what the money was used for, despite that we had an agreement otherwise. The bottom line is I never got what I paid for, Greene broke his word to me, and illegally now has retained my money in exchange for providing me no value at all.

      The long and short is that we were 100% clear that the consultation in the county jail would be for a meet-and-greet only to determine if it was a good fit for representation. It was very clear that a fee agreement for such a nominal sum was to cover attorney time for what would take somewhere between 2-3 hours, a bargain for an attorney with nearly twenty years experience defending persons accused of crimes. It was made very clear to all that no review of discovery or case evaluation would be provided under this retainer. The retainer was only to meet and talk about the case. For a case with potential life consequences, clearly that type of fee is for meeting only and not legal advice or a full evaluation. All of this was made very clear to this client at the time and since, which is why he was informed there would be no refund. Three+ hours were spent, and that is not including reviewing and commenting on a 26-page document sent after the fact of the visit because the client was not prepared as he alleges. Jail visits do not occur at the scheduling and control of inmates. More than a year later, this individual remains in jail and is on his third or fourth attorney.

      This potential client called in and spoke to my assistant. After hearing what kind of case he had, my assistant was very clear in explaining that my firm only handles criminal defense cases, and that his was a civil case. The caller was insistent and even became rude with my assistant. She had to tell him three or four times that we do not take civil cases whatsoever. However, the caller persisted and eventually began yelling at her. He then hung up and posted his review.
