When signed an agreement to be represented by this firm, i was under the impression they did not have attorneys who specialize in workers comp law working in San Diego? It seemed to me that most phone calls went to and came from the Oakland office. I never meet with my attorney in person, and I agreed to be represented in court in Oakland. My advice: hire an attorney on a referral from somebody you know. Make sure that your attorney has a physical presence in San Diego, and that you meet with him/her in person. Workers Comp law seems straightforward - but there are a lots of nuances involved. For example- having a good working relationship with doctors in San Diego. An established local attorney should know which doctors are pro-patient, and which tend to side with the insurer. I had a straightforward, uncontested ear injury resulting in partial loss of hearing. The insurance company proposed three QME doctors, and GSWC selected an MD, FACS specializing in ophthalmology. They did so without reviewing the medical options with me, or speaking with me to explain the process. Based on this QME medical assessment, my claim was rejected because the selected QME doctor didnt have the credentials to assess my type of injury. Based on my experience, I would not agree to have a workers comp case heard outside of San Diego by this firm. I understand that there is more than just one lawyer there, and other clients may have had a different experience. I am just expressing an opinion here and saying that my experience was not positive at all.
