My son and I shopped for snacks at the Dollar Tree store on Oceanside Boulevard located near the I-5 freeway in Oceanside California. As we approached the checkout stand, a security officer named A. Allen entered the store. He began a conversation with a very rude Dollar Tree employee named Lisea. Next a hispanic male walked in the store dressed in civilian clothing. A. Allen positioned himself in an aggressive stance in front of the entrance door and began signaling the cashier LuLu that was assisting me with check out. I saw her look at A. Allen and then me and shake her head. I turned around to then see him making a phone call. I immediately became suspicious when I didn't see any cause for the security officer that is supposed to observe and report suspicious activity. There was none in the store except for the mounting line of customers due to his conversation with the back up cashier that was supposed to be doing her job, but as a result of his interference, she lost her train of thought and the entire line of customers began to get frustrated. A. Allen then began to assist Lisea with completing her work tasks. In my thirty plus years of working, I had never seen anything like it. A. Allen spent approximately fifteen minutes in Dollar Tree chatting with employees, directing customers when a Dollar Tree employee couldn't do her own job. My concern is that there could've have been a crime being committed while this security officer was in Dollar Tree wasting time. There was no need for his presence inside the store. Everyone shopped, paid for their items and exited the store. I have family in Law enforcement and private security that take their positions seriously. This officer should be reprimanded for not being where he should and wasting company resources. East-Tech security supervisors, if you don't believe what I'm saying, review the Dollar Tree store cameras for verification.
