with the surrounding area so nice this shop should be cleaner and better well-kept. they'd have a jewel here if they just shined it!

Buyer beware.  Nothing in store is marked with price. Two registers  and one rings up more then the other for same item! Be careful. They are extremely rude when confronted about it. I believe  they take total advantage of the seniors in the neighboring apartments and the seniors in the Villages! My advice is stay away! They know they have a racket where they are.

Bosses prices are not cheap but he has everything under the sun and when you need it and don't wanna go to lucky's or Safeway hes a godsend. Plus hes got a great candy selection

The Bonfare Market is a convenience store (C-Store) located right outside the gates of The Villages Senior Community in San Jose, CA.  Now, you would think the lone market right outside the gate to a senior community would have lots of business right?  Who wants to drive down to CVS or the shopping center down the road?  This store is sitting on a gold mine, but it doesn't prosper.  During my visit I saw expired goods, no prices on foods, and dusty merchandise.  It had a limited fountain area. Other than being loaded with the standard  c-store items, it didn't have anything new or flashy to offer.  Most of the prices aren't super high. I paid an extra $1.50 for a roll of cough drops. The clerk wasn't very friendly, nor did he show any appreciation for my business.  I think the area would be better served by a 7-Eleven.
