        I was in a rush heading to work, anticipating a wait for Italian food, but surprisingly, the small lasagna came out quickly. While I didn't tip as it was a to-go order, I was disappointed to find no plastic silverware or napkins included. Thankfully, I always carry my trusty camping spoon/fork. The bread, an unexpected side, looked rather sad and lacked flavor. However, the lasagna had a good balance of sauce and cheese, although it didn't seem entirely authentic. Perhaps dining in for pizza will offer a different experience.

        Great pizza! Great food. Number one in my book. Kid-friendliness: When you serve pizza that's really good. There's definitely going to be a lot of families there with kids.

      "Vincent DePhilippis Born in New York NY, raised in Naples Italy returned to New York City at the age of 18. Vincent DePhilippis and Madeleine Manfredi from Nimes France met in New York NY (Mamma and Papa) married in 1925, then settled in Westchester Pennsylvania. Then moved to San Diego in 1947 where they opened an Italian market named Cash & Carry Italian foods on India Street in San Diego. 1950 was the beginning of what has become a very successful line of family restaurants that are today know as Filippis Pizza Grottos that are owned and operated by original family members of the founders. The DePhilippis family would like to welcome you and your family to visit our restaurants to enjoy our traditional old Italian family recipes."
