The Positive: The fried whiting and fixings are a tasty treat. An associate shared some fried whiting with me from here about a month ago. I enjoyed it, especially the onions as they appeared to have a bit of heat to them. On 3-7-24, I finally drove from Waterbury to buy more fish and I ordered the chicken soup w/ gumbo peas. Both were delicious!! I went back again yesterday, 3-14-24 to repeat my order, this time I ordered a large and a small soup. Today, I went back but was unable to repeat my order. I was told there was no chicken soup. Then I was told that I would have to wait 5-10 minutes for fish. I was agreeable until so was told they were out of fixings. I thought this place wasnt scheduled to close until 11:00 p.m. It wasnt even 9:00 p.m. yet. My thought: An all day special should be available all day or change your menu. The Verdict: While the food is good, IF you can get some, this will not be my new Thursday spot. Perhaps arrive here before 5:00 p.m. and you may be in luck. The chicken soup and fried whiting are both yum, but neither are worth me driving back here on a possibility of buying one or the other or both. A Daily Diner
