Very friendly staff who were quick to solve an issue I had. Would highly recommend based on Donnell's service alone.

This hotel exceeded our expectations! The location was amazing with an easy walk down to the white house and within a short walk to several restaurants. The staff were helpful and friendly. The GM, Olivier was frequently present and very charming. The free happy hour with a glass of great wine was a nice touch. The room was large on the 10th floor with big windows and very quiet. I did hear that the rooms facing the street might have more traffic nose but this is to be expected in the heart of a city. There are several embassies nearby which were interesting to look at to see the different style for each country. We would definitely stay here again!

TLDR: They advertise rooms as "suites" that aren't actual suites just normal single-area rooms (i.e. bedroom and "living area" aren't actually separate). The hotel manager didn't offer to make things right, so we left and stayed in a proper suite at the Viceroy, 2 blocks away.
Long version:
My wife and I were traveling with our 3yo son, so we booked a "suite," which was advertised as having a separate living area (the definition of a suite is literally multiple rooms connected with one room number). We needed a separate bedroom for him to sleep so we can work remotely from the other room.
We arrived early and tried to check-in early and was told nothing was available no big deal. The two women working at the front desk were very friendly and professional, so this negative review in no way is a reflection of our interactions with them. We checked our bags and left for a few hours.
We returned to the hotel, checked-in, and went up to the room to find it was not a suite. It was essentially just a normal hotel room (single room, with a separate bathroom). I went down and asked if we had the wrong room. The hotel manager said they don't have "true suites" and the only room they have with a separate (doored) bedroom is the Presidential Suite, which is available, but for 2x the price we paid.
I asked if he would upgrade us for the false advertising mishap and explained that I only booked at his hotel because the room was advertised as a suite with a separate living area, which was what we needed. He said he wouldn't upgrade us, and didn't offer anything to make things right. I checked online and found a suite, for almost the same price, at the Viceroy Hotel, only 2 blocks over. We left the Kimpton and walked over. Checked into Viceroy and went up to the room. Hooray! A proper suite with a big foyer, large living room (with L couch and 50" TV) and an oversized half bath. Through a door is large bedroom with top end finishes and another massive TV. Off the bedroom is a separate bathroom with freestanding tub, oversized shower, toilet room. So the Viceroy has - you know - an actual suite, for almost the same price as Kimpton's non-suite.
Skip this Kimpton and look nearby there are definitely better options.
Rooms: The "suites" are not suites. Don't be fooled by the advertising. Their "suite" is just a normal room with a small sitting area at the foot of the bed...like a normal hotel room.
