Location of the hotel was great for the Tortuga festival. However, this hotel is extremely ran down. For six nights I payed $3,300 and was completely disappointed. The room smelt like mold, huge crack on coming down the wall, walls were dirty, broken draws, bathtub was nasty, fridge stoped working and then would turn on randomly when it wanted to. I am so sick from staying in that hotel its not even funny. Hotel didnt seem to care or take care of me in any way. They definitely need the health department to come in there. So unless you want to get sick and be in a dirty room, I would not recommend staying here!

Location cannot be beat! Absolutely beautiful area. Bar and restaurant staff were above and beyond for customer service! Yes, there are resort fees but this is primarily a vacation destination so that is expected. It is a resort. Pool was on a roof but not exactly how you thought it would be. It is on the second floor roof of the conference center not the 14th of the hotel tower. It was very busy with the Tortuga festival this weekend but the bar, restaurant, and pool staff did an excellent job! In room safe was a nice addition.
The downside: front desk staff was extremely understaffed and dismissive with requests like extra towels, directions, and general resort inquiries. They were borderline rude for being a Doubletree property but I suspect this is partly due to lack of support. Massive, multiple lane front desk and 1 person working until a good size line forms and then 1 other person might join? No. Come on, management, you can do better. No one enjoys waiting in a hotel front desk line nor does the singular staff want to wait in annoyed guests. The 14 floor complex has a bank of 3 elevators that were painfully slow. The parking lot access arms were a joke. Our room key never once worked to access the lot. Even the parking staff commented on how the keys never work. The rooms are a bit tired. Could use a refresh. The water temp control seemed to have a psychological disturbance or possibly was possessed. Couldn't keep a consistent temp while showering. Overall, for price and location, I would possibly stay here again but only if there was no comparable option.
Nearby activities: Tons to do. Directly across from the beach and ocean.
Walkability: Sidewalks, crosswalks, well lit, and safe, well patrolled area.

Whoever hired the photographer did an amazing job! However the hotel looks completely different and is really run down including the pool area. The room smelt like pee and was extremely humid which is slightly understandable. For the money I was disappointed and wouldnt come back.
