THE WORST ER EVER TAKE FROM ME!!! IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES DO NOT SEND THEM TO THIS ER. STAFF IS RUDE, UNWELCOMING AS THOUGH YOU INCONVIENCED THEM. THEY ACT LIKE CARING FOR YOU THE PATIENT OR YOUR LOVES ONES IS A BURDEN. WHILE THERE ARE WHO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND, THE BAD ONES OUTWEIGH THE GOOD. I HAVE BEEN A NURSE FOR 5 YEARS AND the lack of care that my husband and I experienced in the er tonight has left me speechless!! If this is the best in healthcare that augusta has to offer , the our community is doomed because piedmont ER does not represnt excellence in care!

ER horrible. Some folks been here 1 and one half days. Been here all afternoon. No one can tell us when he might be get a room in ER. Or, when he might see a doctor. Don't bring your love ones here.

My mother had brain surgery for tumor removal at this hospital we had issues with overall sanitation and cleanliness, lack of nurses or professionalism, and the way they discharged her left a bad taste in my mouth they discharged my mother knowing she was not mobile and able to take care of herself post-operation. The nurses wouldnt even help her get mobile, they said that wasnt their job and it would be a liability if she got hurt or fell, so they left it to their therapy team. Fine, I get it, but therapy only came sparingly and not long enough duration in my opinion. She spent a few weeks here after the initial surgery because she was severely vitamin deficient and had some post-op issues they wanted to monitor. She ended up developing partial paralysis which made recovery harder. They did not even mention discharging my mother until that morning of. They quite literally shoved us out as if someone was dying and needed the room asap. Thank god my family had JUST received a wheelchair via donation from another facility so we could actually wheel her out of the room and into the car. But they really did not seem to care how we got out of there, they just wanted us out. They didnt get us set up with any post-operative care of therapy, they told us we would need to do that ourselves. Before all this, her icu room was a shared room and the door was left open constantly. Not sure how that is sanitary. And several times, while this door was open and my mother was trying to sleep after her craniotomy, I hear young nurses yelling and laughing in the hall or at their desks. I cant begin to understand why you as a nurse, would carry yourself that way on an icu floor, right outside someones room whose door isnt even closed and she is trying to heal from surgery just disgusting to me. Im sure this hospital is operating just fine according to policy, but those policies need to be evaluated and changed. Someone should not have the experience I had here, or the experience my mother did.

We have been in the ER since 9PM on March 29 with my diabetic mother who just had knee replacement surgery on March 20. It is now March 30 5:58 am and she is still waiting to be seem for a bowel blockage. No one has come to recheck her glucose levels or anything. One nurse came through at 5:30 am and when another patient said they had been here for almost 15 hours, she said this is the fast track. She then grabbed another patient's arm who was trying to wake up to hear what she was saying she rudely grabbed at him saying let me see your wristband. What kind of craziness is this? If you are sick and are going to have to go to Piedmont, please go to Prompt Care or your primary physician before they close. Otherwise you will be worse off before you see an ER physician. Update: Still here at 10:32am. We had to contact the nurse administrator to get her blood sugar checked after 12 hours. We have watched the take people back with the ability to walk and in no distress. I guess when they say by category they mean healthy first. I have already reached out to the Georgia Medical Board and they gave me the number to call to submit a complaint. Others need to do this too. So that you know the rest of the hospital is wonderful! The ER lacks the same A1 quality and professionalism.
