We celebrated my wifes 30th birthday at Alligator Soul. We could not secure a reservation online, but a quick conversation with the maitre d the night before we wished to dine and Alligator Soul was able to accommodate us. Everything about our experience was top notch, and I have recommended this restaurant to multiple family and friends who are planning to visit Savannah in the near future.

The food is always great! It's hard to get in, I recommend a reservation. The entree choices are excellent, the service is great, as are the drinks.

I really, really wanted to love this restaurant. It was a beautiful atmosphere with excellent service, great wine & cocktail selection. That being said, the downfall is for those of us who may not be super adventurous eaters...nearly everything, and I mean nearly everything, had some kind of variation on alligator, frog legs, wild boar, or kangaroo meat on it. I like trying new things, but have a very strong gag reflex. The thought of those things...I just couldn't do it. And there were no standard options. No chicken or beef or a pasta dish without wild accoutrements. I held out hope for the catch of the day being the dish for me, but it, too, had alligator something or other on top of it, so pass. I ended up having the Shrimp & Grits with Diver Scallops and it was fine, but not being a huge shellfish lover, I passed most of the seafood to my hubby. So that's the reason for 4-stars - lack of variety for the tamer palates. The peanut butter pie was excellent, though and my husband had the beignets for dessert and they were delish. Everyone else at our table raved over the kangaroo/alligator dishes, so if you're into that kind of thing, this is a good choice for you. Dietary restrictions: GF and Vegetarian options clearly marked.

My wife and I are traveling and stopped in Savannah for a few days. Sort of a tourist thing with great vibes and rich in history. We did not want to eat at a tourist trap restaurant, so I googled, best restaurant in Savannah and Alligator Soul popped up. We decided to give it a try. We did not have reservations, which I would recommend, but we were able to eat at the bar which was nice since we were happy to meet Harley who served us drinks and dinner. We started with a Manhattan and a Godfather. Both perfect! Next was Harleys recommendation of the kangaroo steak with fingerling potatoes, carrots and collard greens, all perfect! My wife had the carrot marrow salad, perfect! We shared a bowl of gumbo, also perfect! We decided not to mess with perfection and we made reservations for the next evening. It was just as delicious and tasty as the first night. This time we had the perfect soft shell crab with alligator bites over Carolina gold rice. Then a perfect bottle of Dragons Milk beer and a glass of Stoller Pinot Noir, also perfect! My wife had shrimp and grits, delicious and perfect and I had the best diver scallops of my life!!! This time we were served by Charlie, who was a true professional and did a fantastic job all evening. He was very attentive and personable. I would like the chef to move to Cleveland so we can visit more often. The chef here knows how to deliver great quality food at the right price! He also makes everything PERFECT! Highly recommend if you are in Savannah!

I wish I could eat here every night! We ate here for our anniversary dinner and were in awe of the quality service, beautiful decor and absolutely delicious food! I wish I could remember our waiters name because he was fun, provided the perfect amount of service without being overbearing or absent and offered great suggestions. They started out with giving us an amuse bouche made of a parmesan crisp, red pepper jelly and a crawfish and WOW what a way to kick off the meal! Small but thoughtful and carefully curated details like that are what sets Alligator Soul apart from other restaurants. I ordered the Naperol Spritz mocktail and the Diver Scallops & Shrimp and wish I could've had seconds of both. My partner tried the Wild Game Specialty which happened to be Kangaroo brined for 3 days in a brown sugar brine with a spicy sauce on top. It came with a side of collards, carrots and the most tender fingerling potatoes we've ever had. He loved the ability to order something really unique and was surprised at how delicious it was! We finished our meal with the Chocolate Beignets. They were freshly made to order, still warm beignets filled with a perfectly crafted chocolate mousse. If these are available when you visit, they are a must have! Before we left, they gifted us a small box of house-made pralines and wished us a happy anniversary. Alligator Soul staff, thank you for making our anniversary dinner to special. We cannot wait to come back!
