In addition to previous comments: Margie was so helpful guiding us through this process. We have sold four properties and I would rate her as the top realtor we have engaged. As a side note two of the properties were under contract within one week of listing, so I am not making these statements because the condo was the quickest we have sold. I am commenting upon you as an excellent realtor.

Margie Smigel and I have never met in person. We found her because she's the agent with the most experience in the Loop. We purchased a condo sight unseen, and Margie was the perfect agent to act on our behalf. She visited every property, Zooming with us during the tour, and sharing her impressions and opinions. Once we found the right home for us, Margie's inspection was very accurate and we had no surprises when we got the keys and opened the front door. Margie also has a high ethical standard. In an area where not all listing agents and sellers disclose problems, she asked the right questions and reached out to her network for answers from third parties. As an out-of-state realtor myself, I appreciated her professionalism and her patience teaching us how transactions are done in Chicago. I highly recommend Margie as your real estate agent!

I am SEVERELY delayed with this review! We were initially referred by the University of Chicago to Margie in 2003 when we moved from Ann Arbor MI to Hyde Park. We were shown some properties by two other agents, but very quickly decided to stick with Margie exclusively. She clearly knew the area, its histories, and was wise to the developers. She helped us to feel confident about our condo purchase. 15 years later, I got a job in NYC and we needed to sell our home quickly. Like so many homeowners at the time, our home value had declined during the market crash of 2008; additionally, we had to make substantial repairs to prepare to sell. The first agent we contacted suggested an asking price that was below what we had initially paid. And then we remembered Margie and wondered if she was still working the area. She was! Margie stepped in and immediately knew what to do. She told us what repairs to make and what to leave as-is. She made referrals for top-notch expert vendors to do things I didn't know were a thing--like painting our tub to make it look like new! By the time we listed our unit, we got an offer in less than 2 weeks, and very close to our asking price. We were elated. We closed before our furniture arrived in NYC. Margie Smigel is a pro, and importantly, a good person. We trusted her from the beginning, and she pulled through. She is good at this, y'all, and she KNOWS Chicago real estate. Thanks, Margie!
