This place needs to be shutdown immediately was greeted rudely when I walked in to adopt a cat. Was told we have no cats to adopt only to be told well we have 1 cat who is a barn one. Went and greeted the cat and was told I can adopt him today so I was excited get to the front to be told No You cant adopt him he aint for adopting. Why have a sign then why waste my time if Im gonna be told two different scenarios. I was just trying to give him a loving home as this place needs a health department inspection animals been kept in cages to long malnutrition from what Im saying and the lack of cleaning as I can smell feces and pee from just entering through the doors to see other animals

For those sharing poor reviews...it's a city-run animal shelter. What do you expect? We've adopted 1 dog and 2 cats from here. The staff have always been very kind to us. And when you adopt an animal from here, they spay/neuter, add a microchip, and give the animals all of their immunizations. You get all of that and a grateful, loving new family member all for only $25. Adopt, don't shop!

Rudest place ever, rescued a dog on side of road, brought it in to be scanned and would not allow me to leave with it because it was someones dog but no houses are around there, other staff said people dump dogs all the time Said ill have to wait 4 days then will contact me if no one claims. Proceeded to complain that we werent caddo parish residents and pi$$ed bc we brought a dog there when we are bossier residents (when picked up 1 minute from there facility)! lady was rude as hell. Why take in more animals when yalls re over ran as is!? Will not be doing business with them ever.

I'd give a zero if I could. This is regarding the Caddo Animal and Mosquito Control, not sure if they are affiliated with this group. I'm from Wisconsin. I was traveling to Shreveport when I saw two dogs on the side of the road. They were very close to the road and nearly got hit by passing cars. Another lady pulled over and helped me coax the dogs into my car. The next morning I called Caddo Parish and spoke to D. I won't give out her full name out of courtesy, though she doesn't really deserve any based in her behavior. Well I have never spoken to a meaner person and when I asked for her supervisor, she said he was busy. She kept telling me to call Bossier, even when all I wanted to know was what was the process for surrendering a dog. She must have interrupted me and said "Call Bossier" at least 20 times within a minute. Then she put me on speaker phone and she, with her office mates in the background, proceeded to tell me there was a fee to surrender the dogs and that they were a kill shelter and the entire time she had a smile in her voice...she thought she was being funny? I will try to find out who is in control of this facility as this was an awful way to be treated. I can't imagine an office of people who could act this way would treat the poor animals any better. Not anywhere close to being a "shelter". No compassion and certainly no kindness was shown.
